Know the Truth

Our time in Cambodia was different from every other place that God has taken us to, as has been the pattern of our journey thus far.  One of the things that remain the same is that God never fails to bring about God appointments where ever we go.

This little guy decided to join us on the bus and fell asleep on me.

This little guy decided to join me on the bus and fell asleep on me.

Last Saturday, Jeremiah and I went to an internet cafe for breakfast so we could do some work.  Soon after ordering drinks, the electricity went off and we found ourselves in the presence of a woman trying to get us to buy cookies to benefit the children of Cambodia. Jeremiah asked her what they do for the children and she said that they do a reading program. Jeremiah responded, saying that we believe unless you are helping them spiritually as well, you are not really helping them at all.  She said that they do help them spiritually, that they too were Christians.  She then invited us to her church for service on Sunday morning.  Later on that evening, Jeremiah said that he felt that there was an open door with this woman and we would go to her church.  Though no one on the base had heard of this church, we made a deal that we would try and find it and if not, we would have church together.

After a little trouble finding the church (It was not at Omega Hotel, but at Alpha Hotel…perhaps we should have started at the beginning and not the end,) ¬†we arrived at the small gathering of people all dressed in the same white clothing. ¬†Their church service consisted of watching and partaking in a pre-taped service from the Philippines, at their home church. ¬†It did not take long for us to realize that this was no ordinary church service, but it was in fact, a cult that we had been invited to. ¬†There were so many red flags within the first 10 minutes and throughout the 3 hour service. ¬†During the service, I asked Jeremiah several times about leaving, but he said he felt there was someone to talk to.

The pastor of the church essentially spoke a message of repentance, through instilling fear that without repenting, horrible things would occur. ¬†That you must repent and your life has to be completely given over to the Father and King, and live accordingly to the will of the Father. ¬†He also spoke primarily on God’s love, reading all of 1 Corinthians 13. ¬†Through many things, this man had now become the “Appointed Son of God”; basically, Jesus had not finished the work. Jesus came for the Jews, but God had appointed him to come for the Gentiles. ¬†After the service, the leader of the church tried to get us to come to a meeting to hear more but¬†he would not share the beliefs, saying that it was too complicated.

The Truth is, what Jesus preached was not complicated. ¬†It is simple and made for everyone to understand. God sent us there to speak Truth where there was deception. ¬†No, we did not see a change immediately, but planting Truth will always win out in the end, because Jesus is The Way, THE TRUTH, and The Life. ¬†The problem with this cult and many others is that the people heard the message one man was given through spoken word, dreams and visions, and they followed him. There was no Bible there during his time of receiving this. ¬†The Bible says ‘the enemy¬†disguises himself as an angel of light’¬†(2 Cor. 11:14). ¬†Paul warns us over and over again in Romans to¬†beware of false prophets and teachers. ¬†Though this man taught from Scripture, he was not teaching the whole Bible and from the Lord, thus leading 6 million people astray.

The point of the photo always stood out to me.

The point of this always got me.

¬†Joshua 1:8 instructs us toStudy this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.” ¬†We must study and know the Bible by spending time with God and receiving revelation from Him.¬†Then when the enemy¬†comes, we will be able to recognize it and bring to light what is moving in the darkness. ¬†Have you given yourself wholly to studying the Word and receiving all the God wants to give you through it? ¬†Are you familiar with the Truth and able to discern when something is not Biblical? ¬†If not, I urge you to learn the Truth; and the best way to do this is by spending time with Jesus and reading His Word and receive the life and joy that comes from this devotion!!!

Rains of Revival

Previously my husband shared the word that the Lord had given him for Spain The Mighty Wind and the Dry Bones, however, I will recap a little bit before I share the word that God has given me. The day that we arrived in Spain Pastor JoseMaria picked us up from the airport, and he, with no relation to what we had been discussing, began to tell us about an unusually strong, strange wind that woke him up during the night a few times. I thought it odd that something so ‘strange and unusual’ would happen the night before our arrival. I immediately felt that there was something taking place in the spiritual and being made evident in the physical but decided to pray into this before sharing with anyone.

The next morning in prayer with Jeremiah, the Lord confirmed this word to me as he shared that this phenomenon caught his attention, and God had revealed the same thing to him. I took note of this and began praying throughout the week as to what this word meant for Spain. God reminded me of when Elijah prayed for rain. This event takes place at the end of the 3 1/2 year drought that Elijah prophesied over Israel as an affront to baal, who supposedly controlled the natural forces; which lead to the contest on Mount Carmel where Elijah challenged the people of Israel, King Ahab and the prophets of baal to choose who to follow. Two altars were built, to God and to baal, and God made Himself known as the One True God by consuming with fire the drenched altar Elijah built. Now that Israel made the confession that the Lord is God, Elijah informed Ahab that a mighty rainstorm was coming. Elijah took his servant, climbed to the top of the mountain, and humbled himself, bowing low to the ground with his face between his knees praying. Six times he sent his servant to look out to the sea and each time, the servant returned, having seen nothing. Elijah sent him the 7th time, and this time the servant returned saying in 1 Kings 18:44, “I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.” Elijah immediately rose, told Ahab to return to Jezreel with haste and the Lord gave Elijah special strength to run ahead of Ahab’s chariot, beating him on the 17 mile trek to Jezreel.

Next, Verse 45 says “a heavy wind brought about a terrible rainstorm.” Just as wind brings about a change in the atmosphere and climate, so does Holy Spirit. The Lord told me through these verses that the “rain is coming.” Spain, as Jeremiah said, can be seen as a very dry place spiritually. And indeed, there has been many years of spiritual drought here. But there are churches of believers, missionaries and those praying for His Spirit to sweep across the nation again. This unification brings about blessing (Psalm 133.) When the people of Israel saw that their hearts belonged to something that didn’t exist, they came back to God. It was then that the tide shifted, and the time had come for the rain. Though there was no physical sign that his prayers were effective, Elijah persisted, knowing that God would come through, until he saw the fruit come forth through the ‘small fist sized cloud’. James 5:16-18 says, “…The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.” The last word that God gave me was that just as God enabled Elijah with ‘special strength’ to return before the rain came, He is enabling the people, ministries and churches here with special strength to be able to house the flood of people that will come when revival arrives.

Are there areas in your life that have been dry and lacking fruit? Are there things that you have been praying and contending for so long that the lack of results has brought discouragement and a dip in your faith? Take heart! My husband and I know very well that the dry times are difficult. We went through 10 months of waiting for change and direction and thought He wasn’t speaking to us. What we found when we heard the final word of “GO!” was that God had been speaking all along; we had just been so set on seeing giant fruit that it overshadowed the small fruit appearing. Though the cloud was so small, it was a harbinger of the ‘terrible rainstorm’ to come, meaning that the small things bring about the great things yet to come. God is faithful, and we must look ahead for the tiny fist sized cloud giving way in the distance. Ask Holy Spirit to reveal where He is working in the small things, be thankful for those things, but continue to press in for the larger things.

Blessings,

What’s in a Name?

While we have been here in Newcastle, things have been different than anywhere else we have been. I guess I have come to expect that though. Last week, we got to go and pray with the YWAM Newcastle team and give them some encouragement. They have been here for more than two years now and there is only three of them. Although they are small in number, we know that “the fervent effectual prayers of a righteous person bring about great things”!!! We also know that persistence pays off. It was a good time of being with them and God gave us several words, but the main thing was that He was incredibly proud of them. I was brought to tears at the pride that Father takes in His children here.

God has also given me the first opportunity for me to preach in a church setting since we started this trip. I felt led to speak about the promises of The Lord coming about with faith and patient perseverance. This encouraged many people and was effective in doing what God wanted it to.

I have the privilege of speaking once again this week at another church. It was totally God that He was speaking to me a message and the passage The body is studying is goes with this message.

“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” This is a very popular quote from Shakespeare in his play Romeo and Juliet. It is somehow appropriate for God to speak this to me while I am here, while i am in England. In Luke 9:18-20, Jesus asks two questions. The first is “Who do people say that I am?”. If we answer this question today, there is no end to answers. There will be anything from not believing that He ever lived to believing that He was some sort of disembodied spirit. However, the disciples only answer a few things, some say John the Baptist (a radical preacher), some say Elijah (a miracle worker), some say a resurrected prophet (a teacher, righteous man). Every one of these answers is lacking in different ways. Is Jesus a preacher but have no power? Is Jesus a miracle worker, this does not mean He knows God (Matt 7:21-23)? Is Jesus a good teacher that says nice things?

When Jesus asks who these disciples, the closest ones to Him, said He was there was only one response. Peter says “the Christ, Son of the Living God.” If we truly believe this statement, which Jesus commends Peter for, our lives will be different. What we believe about Jesus will always determine how we think, act, and live!!! If we believe Him as any less than the Son of God, God in flesh, we will not live in pure devotion to Him! If He is our end, our only desire will be to please Him completely and totally in our thinking, our speaking, and our doing!!!

How do you really see Jesus? Is He the One Desire in your life? Is He above all else? Are you living like it? Ask Holy Spirit to reveal how you see Jesus and How you need to be changed more and more into His image! Seek Him with all that you are and come to know Him as He truly Is!!! John 14:12 reminds us that that “to him who believes in Me (Jesus), the things I have been doing and greater he will do”!!! I believe and am trying to live in pure devotion to Him. What do you believe? How are you living as proof to this belief?
