When Jesus Comes to Town

As I stated in my post on Saturday titled, The Lost Relics of the Simple Gospel and Our Testimony, I will be sharing more today more about my recent trip to Spain. I have been sharing amazing testimonies of what God did while we were there as well as lessons along the way that apply to our everyday life and walk with the Lord.

69F8C63B-E80B-4023-9F2C-34EDA2433C60Our last Friday there, my partner, John and I were scheduled to do something we had not originally planned nor expected to do on the trip; aiding to the major summation of the entire trip…expect the unexpected! We had been told from Pastor Pablo and Elsa, the pastors we paired off with for the two weeks, that there was a couple in the church who were going through marital issues and the husband wanted a divorce. When informing us of this as we headed to another visit earlier in the week, they had asked us if we would meet with them and minister to them to try and bring some kind of reconciliation and restoration. We agreed and prayed for the Lord to do the work and that we would simply be vessels for His power and truth to flow through.

The night prior was when we had ministered and shared the Gospel at a home meeting and three people gave their hearts and lives to Jesus, as shared in the post linked above. Afterward, we went out to a late dinner at the mall nearby and our pastors informed us that the following evening would be when we would meet with the couple. Using Google Translate, they began to fill us in on the issues that had taken place in the marriage and it left us shocked and praying for divine wisdom in how to proceed. There were supposed deep strongholds and strong demonic influence and accusations, with a lot of blanks to fill in.

As Friday ensued, we anticipated that great deliverance and inner healing would need to take place; and in prayer and discussion, we both felt led to call upon our team member, Kirk, to join us as he is well trained in sozo ministry. We had the prayers of our entire team with us. Our friend, Israel, picked us up and would be our translator for the meeting. In sharing, he revealed what he had been told in preparation for the meeting; and our shock grew greater, as did our prayers for direction. We also discovered the discrepancies through translations were not entirely lining up; therefore, we were a bit unsure of what we were walking into.

We met with the couple at the church and then separated them to talk to the husband in private; with the intention of getting to the heart of the matter where he was concerned. He was open and as far as we were concerned, he did not hide any details. In fact, Pastor told us that when he heard that our team was coming to Spain, he began to feel a lack of peace and eventually asked to have a meeting with us saying he was overcome with anxiety and loss of sleep. When Jesus comes to town, all of hell shutters and knows of its impending doom! Things simply cannot remain as they were!

Ancient dungeon set upon the waters. Though dark and hopelessly drowning on the inside, surrounded by barriers to freedom, the pathway to life lies just outside the prison walls.

We began to learn in taking him through a process of his connection with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, that a great many deep wounds and hurts burdened this man as well as a horrific history of abuse from the most trusted members of his family; and he bore the scars to prove it. It was evident that sitting before us was a broken man with a broken past; in deep need of a Savior to completely heal him, deliver him, set him free, and restore him. In the process, I believe that shock of all this man endured as a young child left us reeling and praying for a blanket of peace to continue in ministering to him and drawing him into the heart of the Father, the arms of Jesus, and the comfort of Holy Spirit.

As my tear-filled eyes met Israel’s astonished, tear-stained gaze as he translated, I found myself overcome and overwhelmed with the compassion of Jesus. This man struggled to see the face of the Father, as he drowned in darkness. Filled with hatred and anger at all he had endured, he was unable to allow Holy Spirit into the room. Eventually as we guided him through a series of confessions and forgiveness, he began to feel Holy Spirit with us. He began to hear truth from Heaven about who God made him to be and a breaking off of lies occurred.

We then came to Jesus. He could not see Jesus and felt abandoned by Him in his times of greatest need through years of horror. It was then that Jesus gave me a vision of a specific time when he had endured deep abuse as a very young child and He revealed every detail of the scene before my eyes. It was in that very moment that I saw Jesus come in the room, sit down beside him, and take hold of him, enveloping him in His arms, comforting him. As I shared this through tears, the man broke down weeping and spoke of this very moment in time, of what he had endured and what he was thinking. His eyes were opened to the reality that Jesus had in fact been there the whole time and had never abandoned him or forsaken him, even in his darkest of days. Jesus used this to break off deception and to usher in His truth and reality as our Faithful Friend to the very end. Such is true for each one of us.

He shared how this history paved the way to a life of crime and how he had taken dozens of lives as a hitman for a gang he was a part of. Then Jesus entered the scene in his adult years and he had his first encounter with the power of God at a church gathering. The pastor called him forward out of the crowd and as he reluctantly came up on stage, the pastor prophesied his salvation that would come forth. He drew his gun on the pastor intending to kill him; and the pastor’s response should be that of every Follower of The Way, a martyr’s cry: With hands raised, “Go ahead and kill me! If I die, I am going to die worshipping my Savior!”

With that, he shot the pastor…but no bullet came forth from his gun, the pastor was unharmed! He fired multiple rounds in the air, all successful. Then he fired at the pastor again, with the same failed response! He hit his knees, and surrendered his life to Christ! It took some years and Jesus helped set him free from the gang bent on taking his life and that of his family.

There was always this reality to go back to, a memorial erected in his memory. He lost his way along the path, but sitting with us during this time Jesus confronted the demons of his past, cast them out, broke off the chains, and unlocked the prison doors. In the end, he could see Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit, and found a place in Heaven with all three that he never wanted to depart from. We then led him in a prayer of salvation and rededication to the Lord!

Sitting before us was a completely different man than we had met a few hours prior. So much so, that we believe a restorative power was released that night that will ultimately lead to the restoration of his marriage! He also became our driver for Sunday ministry travels!

Who would’ve thought that this man we ministered to would have such an encounter that he, an ex-assassin, would usher us around in ministry?! Now, THAT is what I call adventuring with Jesus!!!

I have a purpose in sharing this testimony. The main point being, it does not matter what our past looks like…Jesus was in it, is all over it, and working through it all to create in us an eternal weight of glory. Everyone has a Saul to Paul conversion in store where no matter how dark and ugly our past is, He will always bring us into a beautiful bliss of abundant life that compels us to go and do the unthinkable to make the name of Jesus famous in the earth and to do as He did.

We are never alone in this journey; never once before we knew Him, nor for a single moment after. It is time to step into His timeline, not the timeline of the past, and to advance; to storm the gates of hell and set free all who are bound as captives in darkness! No matter what appearances say, do it anyway!!! You have the dunamis (dynamite) power of Heaven backing you and going before you…you cannot lose unless you quit!

DO NOT QUIT! DO NOT RELENT IN THE ASCENT!

2 Corinthians 4:7-18 (TPT)
“We are like common clay jars that carry this glorious treasure within, so that the extraordinary overflow of power will be seen as God’s, not ours. Though we experience every kind of pressure, we’re not crushed. At times we don’t know what to do, but quitting is not an option. We are persecuted by others, but God has not forsaken us. We may be knocked down, but not out. We continually share in the death of Jesus in our own bodies so that the resurrection life of Jesus will be revealed through our humanity. We consider living to mean that we are constantly being handed over to death for Jesus’ sake so that the life of Jesus will be revealed through our humanity. So, then, death is at work in us but it releases life in you. We have the same Spirit of faith that is described in the Scriptures when it says,
‘First I believed, then I spoke in faith.’ So we also first believe then speak in faith. We do this because we are convinced that He who raised Jesus will raise us up with Him, and together we will all be brought into His Presence. Yes, all things work for your enrichment so that more of God’s marvelous grace will spread to more and more people, resulting in an even greater increase of praise to God, bringing Him even more glory!
So no wonder we don’t give up. For even though our outer person gradually wears out, our inner being is renewed every single day. We view our slight, short-lived troubles in the light of eternity. We see our difficulties as the substance that produces for us an eternal, weighty glory far beyond all comparison, because we don’t focus our attention on what is seen but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but the unseen realm is eternal.”

For His Glory,

The Lost Relics of the Simple Gospel and Our Testimony

It has been almost a week in updating from my time in Spain, and schedules got so busy that I never really had time to sit down and share more about what had taken place since my last post. So much so, in fact, that I’m actually back in the states; having arrived a few nights ago.

Amada, our translator and worship leader for the meeting.

On Thursday, we were scheduled to go to a house church-like meeting. It was the first one of its kind in the area and was put on by a woman in the church that John and I partnered with in Torrevieja. We were unsure of what to expect in going, but it turned out to be wonderful! It was obvious this woman came with expectancy for God to move and had gone out and done her duty in bringing in the people! She was a person of peace and I bless her for her obedience! I was going to share the Gospel with the Evangecube and it was a nice surprise to have a new translator; a young woman named Amada. She had been through YWAM Madrid in recent years and led worship at our meeting as well. She and I connected really well and I had the joy prophesying over her and in getting to know her joy-filled spirit all the more afterwards as we went out to dinner.

After worshipping together, I shared the Gospel with everyone and when I came to the point where each person must make a choice of whether they want to ask Jesus into their heart and receive eternal life and salvation, no one really responded. Suddenly, our expectant host asked me to share my testimony of what Jesus did for me and why I chose Jesus. I chose a picture on the cube showing man surrounded in darkness, contrasted with God in the light. I shared how I spent my life afflicted with sickness and pain; and drowning in bitterness, anger, unforgiveness, fear, and unbelief in being abandoned by my birth father and step father. I explained how I reached the end of my rope and was desperate for hope and deliverance from the darkness I was dying in. I spoke of how God stepped in in my brokenness, surrounded me with the Love of the Father; and how Jesus came in and healed me of all of my ailments and restored my life through His sacrifice on the cross.

Our host then asked if John and my mother-in-love would share their testimonies. They shared about how God reconciled them to Himself in revealing their need for a Savior; and that simply being a good person or operating out of religion cannot save you. Suddenly, those who knew Jesus began passing around the Evangecube, picking a picture on it they most identified with, and shared their testimonies of Jesus’ work in their lives. It was beautiful! We then came back to where we began…we must all make a choice. Life or death. Light or darkness. The lost in the room had become so moved at the testimonies of Jesus that with tear-filled eyes, they responded with choosing Life! We led them in a prayer of salvation and Pastor Pablo asked if I would lay hands on and pray for them. God touched them mightily and their countenances were lighter and brighter.

Marissa (left), Pastor Elsa, Maria, Ana (our host), and Augustine. Marissa, Maria, and Augustine gave their lives to Jesus!

In this time, Holy Spirit reminded me of a message my Husband sent me the prior morning from our cousin. She had been praying for the team and Holy Spirit showed her a picture of me running with fire, coming up to an older bald man with glasses, embracing him, and transferring the fire to him. Suddenly I realized sitting before me was that very man He had shown her. Being filled with fire, my spirit began burning to share this word with Augustine, who had just given his life to the Lord. God knew his time had come and He had a special message and impartation of commission for this new son!
Expect the unexpected!

As I shared the vision with Augustine, I began to see how he connected with much of what God had revealed to me in the past seven years of going to Spain. He became flabbergasted and Holy Spirit downloaded to me His prophetic decree to His son. I began to prophesy God’s design for Augustine, that he was to take hold of the torch and blaze a trail across all of Spain. I saw Jesus come behind him and pour out a bucket of liquid fire upon him and everywhere he ran, wildfires raged across the land. He had searched the land for a Spaniard who would say, “yes!” to the call, and had been declined many times. His hand was extended, in high hopes that this son would take hold of Him and answer the call. The look of shock grew on Augustine’s face as tears welled up in his eyes; and he responded with, “I don’t think I’m strong enough for that.” The beauty of it all is that we aren’t meant to be able to! It is not by might, nor by power, but by the Spirit of God dwelling within us, that we are empowered to fulfill our destiny and set the world ablaze for the Glory of God! He then responded with a joy-filled “yes!”, stood up and embraced me. We then laid hands him, prayed for him, imparted the fire of God, and commissioned him to set his nation on fire! He left a completely different person than when he had entered! Praise the Lord!!!

I would like to propose to you a simple principle, an often forgotten lost relic of the evangelical life…the marriage of the Simple Gospel and the Word of our Testimony.  It is by these two things that we overcome the kingdom of darkness and establish the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth. The utter power of the Simple Gospel to break the bonds of wickedness, loose the yoke of oppression, heal all afflictions and diseases, fling wide the prison doors, and set the captives free will never diminish or fade. It will never decrease in effectiveness or cease to produce Kingdom developing results. However, when partnered with the Word of our Testimony, all deception from the enemy is crushed and obliterated; for no one can deny your testimony!

We are called to be martyrs, faithful witnesses of what we have seen and known to be true!

THIS is what I have seen and know to be true: Jesus came, He died MY death upon the cross to purchase me and pay my eternal debt that could not be paid, His body was broken to purchase my healing and deliverance. He rose again victoriously conquering all the powers of hell and setting me free to be one with Him. He is seated at the right hand of the Father ever interceding for me; and He has given me all power and authority under Heaven to do as He did, and even more. He sent His Holy Spirit to abide within me to be my guide, comforter, healer, friend, breath, life, power, and freedom.

Acts 1:8 (TPT)
“‘But I promise you this—the Holy Spirit will come upon you and you will be filled with power (you will be seized with power). And you will be My messengers (witnesses, martyrs) to Jerusalem, throughout Judea, the distant provinces—even to the remotest places on earth!'”

Because of all of these things, I am healed of four “life-long, incurable” afflictions, I hold in my arms two beautiful children because of that healing, I am married to a wonderful and fiery man who every day is becoming more and more a reflection of the One Who holds my heart. I am forgiven, free, bold, unashamed, undignified, a Burning One set on seeing the desire of Jesus’ heart made manifest among the nations…that they would be set ablaze for His coming!!! I get to partner with Jesus in fulfilling His mission through this Great CO-Mission! I get to go into all the world to see Him do for others what He has done for me!

When we testify of what Jesus has done, we create an atmosphere for Him to come do it again! It is simple. It is Holy. It is powerful. It is the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth. All of Heaven for all of eternity testifies of Jesus, the Worthy Lamb Who was slain before the foundations of the earth, of His holiness. So I say to you, let’s join with Heaven and do the same!

Revelation 12:11 (TPT)
“They conquered him completely
through the blood of the Lamb and the powerful word of his testimony. They triumphed because they did not love and cling to their own lives, even when faced with death.”

I will be sharing in the next post or two, about the rest of my journey in Spain; but until then…

Fuego de Dios esté sobre vosotros para testificar!!! (Fire of God be upon you to testify!!!)

Raising Up Martyrs

For the past few days I have been pondering and dwelling on a thing with the Lord. I find myself going back to this past Sunday when I was teaching the youth at our church. For months now, the Lord has been leading me to teach about the Harvest. I taught out of John 4 for a few months through the end of last year and into the new year; followed by teaching out of the end of Matthew 9:27-38 and on into Matthew 10.

I fully expected to teach from Matthew 10:7-8, And as you go, preach this message: ‘Heaven’s Kingdom realm is accessible (at hand), close enough to touch.’ You must continually bring healing to lepers and to those who are sick, and make it your habit to break off the demonic presence from people, and raise the dead back to life. Freely you have received the power of the Kingdom, so freely release it to others. However, He chose to lead it in a completely different direction and not even really talk about Matthew 10 in the way I thought. He led the conversation into teaching about martyrdom to youth under the age of fourteen.

While this isn’t your typical idea of what a Sunday morning teaching and discipleship for youth would look like; He planted seeds of holy pursuit, zealous passion, and awakened compassion. I shared the stories of modern-day martyrs, Jim Elliot, along with his four friends while attempting to reach the Huaorani tribe in Ecuador; and this past year, John Chau, who gave up his life to reach the highly isolated tribe on North Sentinel Island.

All-consuming love for Jesus and to bring Him the reward of His suffering has marked those who have given up everything, including their very lives, to go to the ends of the earth for love. God is awakening His compassion unto action in this generation. This very thing is what so moved Jesus’ heart for the lost in His day.

Matthew 9:35-38 (TPT)
“Jesus walked throughout the region with the joyful message of God’s Kingdom realm. He taught in their meeting houses, and wherever He went He demonstrated God’s power by healing every kind of disease and illness. When He saw the vast crowds of people, Jesus’ heart was deeply moved with compassion, because they seemed weary and helpless, like wandering sheep without a shepherd. He turned to His disciples and said, ‘THE HARVEST IS HUGE AND RIPE! But there are not enough harvesters to bring it all in. AS YOU GO, PLEAD with the Owner of the Harvest to THRUST out many more reapers to harvest His grain!'”

When Jesus saw the crowds of people, compassion overtook Him and He was gripped by it because when He looked upon them, He saw a lost, hurting, broken, abandoned, addicted, wandering, worn, helpless, harassed, distressed, shepherd-less, scattered people, condemned to an eternity of separation and torment in hell. The literal translation of their state is as if they had been flayed, skinned alive, and mangled. He saw their great need of a Deliverer and Savior.

I believe that perhaps He not only saw the crowds that were before Him, but also caught a glimpse or vision of the vast multitudes that would come who resembled the same state. Perhaps upon seeing this, He thought back on God’s desire to co-labor with His creation to carry out His will in the earth. For it is when seeing this reality that He turned to His disciples and presented the problem.
The harvest is huge and ripe, where are they who would partner with Me in gathering it in?
No sooner did He present the problem did He provide the solution. As you go, plead with the Owner of the Harvest to thrust out many more reapers to harvest His grain!” He then commissioned His disciples to GO, and as they went, to PLEAD that He would THRUST out more laborers.

In other words, “I am sending (EKBALLO-ing) you to be the answer; and I command you to plead (BEG) Me to hurl (EKBALLO) forth more laborers into the Harvest as you go!”

This is His divine commissioning — He expects and commands us to go!

Upon this command we see going into Matthew 10, that He imparted to them authority and power to do as He had done. We are then brought back to Matthew 10:7-8 as stated above. The disciples had been marked by a zeal that had consumed them. When you have become so marked and consumed by this holy passion and fire, you become unstoppable; for the Unstoppable One dwells within you. This very thing is what led the apostles to say to the leaders in their day who told them to stop sharing about Jesus, “We cannot help but to speak what we have seen and known to be true!” (Acts 4:18-20

Thinking on this, I asked Holy Spirit why He directed the teaching to martyrdom and what it means for the Body of Christ. He replied,

“I did it because it is time to level up! It is time to stop spoon-feeding this generation of believers with a comfortable gospel!

IT IS TIME TO GO ALL IN! YOU ARE EITHER ALL IN OR NOT IN AT ALL!

There is no age-requirement to My command and call! There is only one requirement: a simple person being simply obedient! If you train up a child in the way they should go, when they are older, they will not depart from it! This generation and the ones to come possess a passion and tenacity that I placed within them to scale the heights, undaunted, fearless, and unrelenting.

Are you willing to lay down your life for My Kingdom to be advanced and established in the earth? Are you willing to lay down your life for souls?Do not neglect to train and equip them in the FULL Gospel of Truth; for some of them will indeed lay down their very lives for My name’s sake and the sake of souls, some even at a young age. They MUST be properly trained and prepared. This can only be done by example. I prepared and equipped My disciples by setting the example. I laid down My very life for the sake of the world.

Indeed, some of you will. But do not continue until you count the cost. I have come to set you on fire that others will come and watch you burn. Like a wildfire, it will be caught and spread across boundary lines, state lines, water lines, and dividing lines.  You must warn them to step up and step out; for I am coming! Sooner than they think! But not until every tribe, every tongue, and every nation has been given the opportunity to come to Me! This is only done through your obedience and the faithful obedience of My Bride.”

I dwelled deeply on this word last night and He reminded me of Acts 1:8, the last thing Jesus said to His apostles before He ascended into Heaven.

Acts 1:8 (TPT)
“But I promise you this—the Holy Spirit will come upon you and you will be filled with POWER. And you will be My MESSENGERS (witnesses) to Jerusalem, throughout Judea, the distant provinces—even to the remotest places on earth!”

The word for “power” is “dunamis“, which is where we get the word, “dynamite“. The word for “messengers” or “witnesses” is “martus“, which is the word, “martyr“. It is as if He was saying, “Holy Spirit is coming and will baptize you and fill you with an explosive power that will catapult you to be martyrs for My Kingdom to the ends of the earth!”

I am reminded of the week after I returned from The Send. I had received such a fresh baptism of fire and a fresh commission to Go! Two days into the week, I overheard my three-year old son singing, “I will preach the Gospel, die and be forgotten, as long as You get the glory!” On another occasion I heard him singing, “I will love You with my ‘Yes’ and with my obedience, Jesus!”, and “It’s my joy to lose my life and find it in Jesus Christ.”

Azariah in tears, being overwhelmed by Holy Spirit in prayer.

I wept then as I do now; and not for the reason that many would think. I am filled with abounding joy and am proud of my son that even though he is young, his heart is stirring to yearn for Jesus and to go to any length to love Him and partner with Him in His grand plan of salvation and setting the earth on fire. That he desires to carry out his own destiny and purpose created for him from before the foundations of the earth were laid.

This is what we are to do. We are to first become martyrs. Then we are to raise up and train others to become martyrs. We are all called to be martyrs for Jesus. Some of us will laid down our very lives for this cause for He is worthy; however, all of us are called to be faithful witnesses to what we have seen and known to be true. Jesus is the One Who is Faithful and True.

The Spirit of Prophecy is the testimony of Jesus. When we testify, we prophesy!

My prayer is this:
God, awaken us all to Your call! Awaken us to our purpose in the earth: to proclaim, train, and send. Father, baptize us in a holy compassion for the lost that would so grip us as it did You; and that we would stop at nothing to go to the ends of the earth for love! May we lay down our very lives for the lost to know You. Come what may, we will go with You! Here we are God! Send us! The wisdom of God is foolish in the eyes of the world; but still we go with You! May we partner with You and be fire starters that set nations ablaze for Your glory; and may we train up martyrs for Your Kingdom! May we never relent in this great ascent!

“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.”
