God is continuing to use us in different ways while here in Texas. It may not be how we would have thought, but He is showing us even more how to praise Him in seasons of waiting. As well as how to be faithful in not just doing the good works that benefit ourselves, but also stepping out into the Greater Works that Jesus talks about in John 14:12. May you be blessed in reading about our faith journey with the Lord and encouraged to step into the Greater Works that marked Jesus and the Apostles!!! 🙂
Our time in Cambodia was different from every other place that God has taken us to, as has been the pattern of our journey thus far. One of the things that remain the same is that God never fails to bring about God appointments where ever we go.
This little guy decided to join me on the bus and fell asleep on me.
Last Saturday, Jeremiah and I went to an internet cafe for breakfast so we could do some work. Soon after ordering drinks, the electricity went off and we found ourselves in the presence of a woman trying to get us to buy cookies to benefit the children of Cambodia. Jeremiah asked her what they do for the children and she said that they do a reading program. Jeremiah responded, saying that we believe unless you are helping them spiritually as well, you are not really helping them at all. She said that they do help them spiritually, that they too were Christians. She then invited us to her church for service on Sunday morning. Later on that evening, Jeremiah said that he felt that there was an open door with this woman and we would go to her church. Though no one on the base had heard of this church, we made a deal that we would try and find it and if not, we would have church together.
After a little trouble finding the church (It was not at Omega Hotel, but at Alpha Hotel…perhaps we should have started at the beginning and not the end,) we arrived at the small gathering of people all dressed in the same white clothing. Their church service consisted of watching and partaking in a pre-taped service from the Philippines, at their home church. It did not take long for us to realize that this was no ordinary church service, but it was in fact, a cult that we had been invited to. There were so many red flags within the first 10 minutes and throughout the 3 hour service. During the service, I asked Jeremiah several times about leaving, but he said he felt there was someone to talk to.
The pastor of the church essentially spoke a message of repentance, through instilling fear that without repenting, horrible things would occur. That you must repent and your life has to be completely given over to the Father and King, and live accordingly to the will of the Father. He also spoke primarily on God’s love, reading all of 1 Corinthians 13. Through many things, this man had now become the “Appointed Son of God”; basically, Jesus had not finished the work. Jesus came for the Jews, but God had appointed him to come for the Gentiles. After the service, the leader of the church tried to get us to come to a meeting to hear more but he would not share the beliefs, saying that it was too complicated.
The Truth is, what Jesus preached was not complicated. It is simple and made for everyone to understand. God sent us there to speak Truth where there was deception. No, we did not see a change immediately, but planting Truth will always win out in the end, because Jesus is The Way, THE TRUTH, and The Life. The problem with this cult and many others is that the people heard the message one man was given through spoken word, dreams and visions, and they followed him. There was no Bible there during his time of receiving this. The Bible says ‘the enemy disguises himself as an angel of light’(2 Cor. 11:14). Paul warns us over and over again in Romans to beware of false prophets and teachers. Though this man taught from Scripture, he was not teaching the whole Bible and from the Lord, thus leading 6 million people astray.
The point of this always got me.
Joshua 1:8instructs us to “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.” We must study and know the Bible by spending time with God and receiving revelation from Him. Then when the enemy comes, we will be able to recognize it and bring to light what is moving in the darkness. Have you given yourself wholly to studying the Word and receiving all the God wants to give you through it? Are you familiar with the Truth and able to discern when something is not Biblical? If not, I urge you to learn the Truth; and the best way to do this is by spending time with Jesus and reading His Word and receive the life and joy that comes from this devotion!!!
The last week has been crazy and full of crazy revival fire being poured out upon us and upon Norway!!! Circuit Riders in Grimerud, Norway was awesomely epic. We met so many amazing people and told our story multiple times, at least 10 times, every single day. It seems that our obedience is an encouragement all over the world. We made some great contacts and we will see if God opens any doors with the people we met here. I also got to see some old friends from my time in Hawaii. It was truly a God filled week!!!
During worship, and the personal time I had with The Lord, I was meditating on the word He had given me for Norway. You can check out the previous word In the post titled “News from Norway”. While I was thinking about this, He gave me a phrase “Run to the Battle!!!” The Christians in Norway, and everywhere else around the world for that matter, cannot sit back and let the enemy do whatever he wants. We are called to run to where the battle is and attack the enemy so that he is unable to take any more ground. On top of that, we are supposed to push him back and cast him out of the places that are rightfully the Lords.
God blesses us when we run to the battle with miraculous victory! He will not let us fall or allow us to be overcome when we stand and fight for Him!!! Joshua 10:1-15 tells us of a time when Joshua led the people to run to a battle. It says that they traveled all night to get to where their allies were being attacked before it was too late. They arrived and The Lord put the enemy into confusion and then sent a hailstorm and killed more people with hail than they did with the sword. Then, God made the sun stand still in the heavens so that they could defeat the entire army before they escaped. God miraculously defeated a 5 army combined force because Joshua was willing to run to a battle that he probably did not really want to get involved with (See Joshua 9).
In our own lives, we must not sit back and watch as the enemy takes ground or destroys our allies. We cannot sit back and do nothing while the enemy gains power around us and takes away our strength. The minute that we quit fighting or running to where the battle is, that is when we get overrun. It reminds me of Lord of the Rings where they were fighting to hold the wall. The enemy was ever attacking and changing tactics and coming from different sides. The heroes were protected inside the wall as long as they ran to where the enemy was attacking and fought them off. When they were unable to do so, the wall fell!
Be strong and full of courage because The Lord fights our battles for us! He gives us the strength to run and the wisdom to know where to run and it is our duty to run to the battle and destroy the works of the enemy!!! When you fight with The Lord, even against impossible odds, He will bring about an awesome victory because of who He is!!!
Currently, we have over 1000 views of our website, 33 Followers, and so many more people partnering with us in prayer for the work God is doing. Friday night at JHOP (Justice House of Prayer) NYC, the worship leader Kevin came up to us after the meeting was over and had a word to give to us. The word came from Exodus 17:11-13“And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. 13 So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people” He spoke that God was calling us to be like a Moses and that we were to go out and do great and mighty things. He said that is was important for us to raise up partners everywhere that we go so that they could directly take part in the work that was being done through our efforts.
I want to thank everyone who has partnered with us so far in prayer and giving and bless you for everything you have done for us. We are seeking out all those who can partner with us financially both with one time investments, and with continued monthly blessings. Many of you believe in Katie, myself and the ministry that God is calling us to do. I am asking you to become our continued partners throughout this global journey on which God has called us. We are looking for 50 or more people who can contribute $50 or more each month. A gift of any size and amount will be a blessing to us since we must travel between countries which can get expensive.
Our next stop is Norway. We are expecting to minister here for about a month before heading to the UK. Tickets to Norway are going to cost $1300 for the both of us. While we are here, we will be taking part in a special school to train and equip the people of Norway with proven evangelistic tools. The cost of this school is $730 and will include all of our food and lodging for this time. These are some additional expenses on top of the monthly support we are needing.
We know and trust that God is our provider and sustainer and that He has called us out on this journey. We know that He will provide everything that we need to complete His mission. I would like you to consider two things. One, is it possible that God wants to use you to provide for us? Please pray and ask the Lord what amount you are supposed to give. Two, do you want to share in the fruit of the mission God is leading us to? Everything you give is going into the planting, watering, and harvesting that God has us doing. You are strengthening and encouraging churches through us as you partner with us on God’s Global Mission.
Jeremiah, Man on Fire!!! and Katie, Pure Fire of Yahweh!!!
