The Memorial 20/40

You are invited to join us for The Propel Fast! Please review Propelled To The Next Level and other words for the reasons behind the fast as well as daily encouragement!

Well, here we are at day 20, the halfway point.  At the beginning of the fast, it may have seemed impossible to fast The 40, but here we are halfway to completing our commitment.  If you have been here from day 1, congratulations. If you jumped in some time along the way, good job. If you fell and messed up, no problem.  Let’s get up and continue on together in God’s great grace and mercy.  We have the eternal reward of seeing Jesus in a special way today.  Let’s run this race to receive the prize!

Today, is a special day that we remember and mark as a memorial.  We see it as an encouragement to continue, but it is an important spiritual marker as well. God looks on and remembers all the special times we give to seek Him in a special way.  If God is truly “a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”, then special times of seeking Him will receive a special reward.  I am sure we would all like to see some scripture backing up this encouragement.  For this, let us look at Acts 10.

This chapter is pivotal for Acts and especially for us as Gentiles.  Until this point, we have seen the apostles going out and ministering to God’s children in Israel only.  At this moment, God changes the mind of the apostles to include all people everywhere in the preaching of the good news.  God was opening the door for them to go out and preach the gospel to the uttermost part of the earth. To do this, God needed someone that was seeking Him.  Someone who was doing something special in The Kingdom. He needed Cornelius.

Acts 10:1-2 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment, a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always.

Cornelius was a well-respected Roman leader who was known for fearing God, giving and praying always.  Here was a Gentile seeking God.  He had built a reputation as one who would seek God in a special way, so apparently, he had been doing this for years.  We find out later in the chapter, that not only was he seeking God, giving generously, and praying continually, he was also fasting.

Acts 10:30 So Cornelius said, “Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

Cornelius, a non-Jewish person, had built a lifestyle of seeking God in a special way.  Here was a man that God could use to bring about the most radical change in The Kingdom since Holy Spirit fell in Acts 2.

Acts 10:3-4 About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, “Cornelius!” And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, “What is it, lord?” So he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.

What does this verse say? Cornelius’ fasting, prayer, and giving went up as a memorial before The Lord. The eyes of The Lord were looking for someone who was seeking Him to change the very course of history for the rest of eternity.  Unknowingly, Cornelius had built a huge neon sign in the spiritual realm that said, “Here I am, use me!” God did not have to look far or hard to see the great memorial that had been built up for years by this man that had no real guarantee of receiving anything for any of these things he did.  His desire and intention was to seek God and bless His people.  God sees the memorial and says, “Here is a man I can use.”

Cornelius obeys the instructions above and beyond what the angel speaks, it seems even better than Peter.  A reluctant Peter comes and cannot even finish a proper sermon before the hunger and expectation in the people that Cornelius had gathered together was rewarded with the outpouring of The Spirit.

How long did Cornelius cry out, “Here I am use me”?

How many years of continuous prayer, fasting, and giving were being built up before the time was right for God to move in a mighty way?

How much time did he spend in the secret place not seeming to receive anything?

Was Cornelius fasting and praying somewhere while the Holy Spirit was poured out on the apostles in the upper room?

How big was the memorial that was built up before God?

On that day, when Holy Spirit fell on him and all the people he had gathered together in obedience to the word, it was all worth it.  He would not have traded one shekel, one meal, one hour that went into the building of this memorial in The Kingdom.  At this point, his spirit was crying out more than ever, “Here I am use me!”

This is my encouragement for you. No matter how you may have struggled during the first 20 days, Jesus is worth it.  The memorial being built in your life is greater than you could imagine. How many have been willing to go The 40 that God might look on the earth and see these memorials all over the earth saying, “Here I am use me!”?  This is who I want to be. I want to be used for The Kingdom. I want to be a laborer in the harvest. I want to be the most useful instrument in The Kingdom. If there is no one else willing to do the dirty work, may my sign continue to say, “Here I am, use me!!!” I know this is your heart as well.

What can God do with a community of people who say “Here I am use me” with their lips and their lifestyle?

Jesus, give me the strength of spirit and resolve to continue throughout the rest of The 40 and beyond in a memorial building lifestyle.  I desire to be the one whose lips and lifestyle loudly proclaim, “Here I am use me!”

Practical –

  • Ask Holy Spirit to strengthen you to continue in your daily commitment
  • Continue to pray “Here I am use me” with your lips
  • Become increasingly obedient in your day to day life in all Holy Spirit reveals

Be blessed to receive revelation of the memorial you have created by recognizing the answered prayers and receiving the promises of God in an increasing measure.  May you be used mightily for The Kingdom as your heart and character line up with The King’s!

The New Thing 14/40

You are invited to join us for The Propel Fast! Please review Propelled To The Next Level and other words for the reasons behind the fast as well as daily encouragement!

As the final day of week two ends I want to congratulate you on continuing one-third of the way through the fast.  God has been doing amazing things and will continue to do so. I can see where He has personally strengthened and sustained me in so many ways already, and I am looking forward to the transformation that will continue to take place in us all.  Keep up the good work!!!

I want to encourage you today from a word that God began to speak to me this morning.

Isaiah 43:18-19 “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.

Right now, God is doing a new thing in a new way!  No longer will you look at the past to define your future, but you will look to Him.  He said, “I am The Way!”  You do not need to look anywhere else, but straight to Him.  He is the source of revival water, and it flows from Him because He is The Living Water.  He is The Life that all men need.

Almighty God cannot be held back by the barriers of humanity.  He will break them all down with the weight of His presence.  The good news for us is that He will flow quickly and easily to the lowest spot around.  He will fill to overflowing the ones who have made themselves ready.

Nothing can stop the presence of The Lord from completely consuming those who have their face set on seeking Him.  Though it may take longer than you want, He will flood you with His presence.  He will overwhelm you with His love.  He will cover you with His glory, and lift you up to be seated in heavenly place with Him.  He says, Come to Me you humble, hungry, and thirsty, and I will give you more than you could ever handle. I will give you all of Me!”

The next chapter in Isaiah has a promise that continues this thought:

Isaiah 44:3 For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, And floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, And My blessing on your offspring

Right now, you and I are making ourselves ready.  We are hungering in the physical because we desire to be truly hungry in the spiritual.  All that God has for us, all that He wants to do, cannot be held back if we are hungry and thirsty for him.  David Hogan says this, “Fasting is a good way to get hungry.”  This statement is so simple, yet so profound.  We have been getting hungry for 14 days now with more to go.

What can God do with a people who are truly hungry and thirsty for Him?

Look around you.  Now is the time that we need God more than ever before.  Crazy things are happening around us.  Wars, tragedies, griefs, depression, and despair consume the airways and conversations everywhere that we go.  The generations seem to be getting worse and worse in every area.  Crime is up, morality is down, and no one seems to care.

I need to be dry and needy for God to come and consume me.  I need to be the dry and cracked ground praying for an outpouring of the flooding presence of The Water of Life.  I need to be completely consumed in His presence that family, friends, neighbors, and nations are transformed by the greatness of the well of life overflowing out of me.

Will you join me?

Are you hungry?

Are you thirsty?

Are you ready?

Jesus, I ask right now that You will make be completely hungry and thirsty for You and Your presence!  I want to be overfilled beyond capacity.  Overflow me that I may influence family, friends, neighbors, and nations with You, the River of Life.  Take me as a willing vessel and use me however You see fit.

Practical –

  • Ask Holy Spirit to make you hungry and thirsty for more
  • Give up something extra that steals your time, and give that time to seeking Him
  • Be obedient to everything that He speaks to you

Be blessed with the new thing that God is doing right now. May you be forever hungry and thirsty, yet forever filled with the fullness of the overflowing presence of an all-consuming God as you are propelled into the next level with Him.

Valued or Not?

Daily Encouragement –

Are you looking for something fresh and new? Do you want a word from Me? Have you completed what I have already given? Have you obeyed? What is the value you have placed on My words?

I am continually speaking if you will have an open heart to receive and come to Me. What are you doing with what you have heard? The action you take after hearing shows what value you place on My word to you.

Some are quick to obey while some immediately harden their hearts. Some will try to decide if it is what they want or think is the right thing to do. Often, if the word is distasteful or unpleasant, you go everywhere to figure out something different. Eventually, you will even return to Me to see if I have changed My mind.

Come close to Me and allow Me to soften your heart to receive and obey all My words. They bring the life, hope, healing, peace, restoration, and love that you need if you will value them and come into line with My divine plan for you. I love you My child!!!

Jeremiah 36:3 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the adversities which I purpose to bring upon them, that everyone may turn from his evil way, that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.”

Jeremiah 37:2 But neither he nor his servants nor the people of the land gave heed to the words of the Lord which He spoke by the prophet Jeremiah.

V. 17 then Zedekiah the king sent and took him out. The king asked him secretly in his house, and said, “Is there any word from the Lord?”

Stay Tuned…

Daily Encouragement –

Everything in the world is working against you to keep you from hearing Me and being obedient. Noise is everywhere. There is hardly a time throughout your day that you can give to listen for what I have to say.

Silence is uncomfortable because you have been trained to avoid it. In the silence, I can speak all I want to say. Often, I have to speak to you through dreams because this is when you finally stop and get quiet. You need to make a habit of getting quiet, and listening to what I have to say.  Then, you will hear exactly what you need.

I am always speaking, but I need you to learn to tune into My channel. Tune everything else out and learn to listen to the wisdom, revelation, and secrets I am just waiting to reveal to you. I love you My child.

Psalm 25:14 (AMP) “The secret [of the wise counsel] of the Lord is for those who fear Him, And He will let them know His covenant and reveal to them [through His word] its [deep, inner] meaning.”

Footprints of Fire

Daily Encouragement –

My Child, I am sending fresh fire upon you that your flesh will be consumed once again. My fire will be upon you in such a way that everywhere you walk will leave footprints of fire blazing into eternity. Once anyone is touched by My fire, they can never be the same again.

You will be forever changed to look a little bit more like Me the more you walk in My fire. The fire is My love that changes your heart, thoughts, emotions, and desires. The fire is My power that backs up the good news that you speak.

I am the Healer!!! I am the Deliverer!!! I am the Savior!!! I am the Miracle Worker!!! I do the signs, wonders, and miracles to prove the Truth you live and have spoken out. It is your job to speak out the Truth and be obedient to walk with Me into all I am calling you. I love you My child!!!

Mark 16:17-18,20 “These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well…
20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord was working with them and confirming the word by the signs that followed.”

As we begin learning about Worship and Sacrifice, we must first ask ourselves,

What is Worship?

What is Sacrifice?

If we do not have a proper understanding of these things, then as we discuss them, we will never come to a true understanding.  My prayer is that as we investigate the scriptures, that we will understand even more the meaning of these and how we can apply them to our lives.

Worship – Honoring and lifting high another as higher than yourself out of a heart of love in response to God’s word, act, or nature.

Sacrifice – Giving up completely something that is greatly important to you for the benefit of another because you love them.

Here, I am talking specifically of the worshiping God, but we worship and lift high so many things that are undeserving.  Food, sleep, money, fashion, entertainment, sports, people, can all be worshiped in spite of not being worth it.  In this one statement, you may be feeling judged and your toes may feel stepped on, but this is the reality of the matter in my life as well as the lives of so many others.

We have a struggle in the morning when our alarms go off whether we will rise and spend time with the Lord worshiping Him or worship the god of sleep that is so seductive especially when it comes time to make the decision.  I could go on and on about each one of these, but every time we choose these things over obedience to God and love for Him, we are worshiping them and lifting them high as the important things in our lives.

Worship

In 2 Chronicles 21, we come to learn that we worship God when we accept His word and are obedient without doubting or questioning what He says.  Jehosophat had no direct command of God to put His worshipers on the front lines.  They did it out of an act of obedience and thus worshiped God by being obedient and trusting in the word of God.

In Genesis 22, Abraham is called to sacrifice his son that God had just revealed was the son of promise.  Abraham trusted God in such a way that as they went to the mountain in Vs. 5 Abraham says we go to worship.  Abraham’s heart of sacrifice is a true act of worship to God.  He was willing to give whatever God asked in obedience out of his great love for Him.

In John 4,

What Jesus mean to worship God in Spirit and truth?

  • God wants a constant communion with you in the day to day.  He does not want you to worship Him in a church or at your house only, but in the Spirit everywhere you go in every situation that you are in.
  • God wants you to be honest with Him.  You cannot fool God.  He sees the thoughts and intentions of your heart.  If you are giving Him something small and seemingly mediocre out of a good heart, it is greater worship than giving the very most you have out of a wrong heart. (1 Cor 13:3)

In Malachi 1, God desires our very best.  If we bring God half-hearted worship out of duty, these things are not pure and holy and actually dishonor and disrespect God.  He would rather no one worship than to have duty-filled worship out of grudging hearts.  He wants pure and holy worship that is a true witness to who He is.  This only comes when we are giving God our best out of a willing and loving heart.

In 2 Samuel 24, David reveals that God is blessed by our sacrifice more than he is blessed by our excess.  We see this concept over and over throughout the Bible that when we give God something valuable to us, that is true worship.  Those giving because they have extra does not impress God.  Jesus states this in a different way when talking of the widow in Mark 12:41-44. God desires our pure and holy sacrifice so He can bless us with better than our very best!!!

men-raise-hands-to-worship-God

Finally, in Luke 7, a “sinner” probably a prostitute comes in to the middle of the pastors and elders of their day.  She humbles herself completely to the judgmental and critical thoughts and stares and worships Jesus.  This “sinner”  sacrificed more and gave more in worship than anyone else around.  Because of her sacrifice and true heart of worship, her sins are forgiven, and she is saved.  She was forgiven much and so loved much.  The fact that she loved much caused her to sacrifice her most valuable possession and her pride as an act of worship to Jesus.

Does you love cause you to sacrifice your pride and valuables in worship to the Lord?

Nothing I have spoken is out of judgment or condemnation, but Holy Spirit has even convicted me in studying these things.  Our love for God will always lead us to a true worship which is displayed in what we are willing to sacrifice for our True Love.

Ask Holy Spirit these questions and be obedient in what He is speaking:

Are you giving your very best to God?  This is true worship.

What is God calling you to sacrifice to love Him and worship Him in a deeper way?

worship1

May you be blessed with knowing more of the Love of God than ever before, and may you receive the fullness of the blessing that comes through true worship and sacrifice.
