The Matthew 28 Baptism

Twenty-eight.

Sunday was a three-fold day of blessing and fire for me. It was not just Mother’s Day. It was not just my 28th Birthday. It was also the day that I was baptized into a new and higher realm with Jesus. It was the day where the culmination of many streams of what God has been doing in my life and with my destiny all converged into one single strand of fire unto the nations.ACBF75A5-A0BA-42CF-B706-2A302AF82B78
I have spent countless time over the years pondering on and seeking the Lord for my place in the Kingdom. Many things became apparent, but I was still left with many yet-to-be-answered questions. Many promises yet to be fulfilled.

If there is one thing I have been sure of with His plans for me, it was always that He created me to be a mother. Over the past few years, He began to reveal how multifaceted that call actually was.

He was not calling me to just be a physical mother to the precious children that I carried within my womb and bore. He destined me to be a mother to the orphans and those forgotten; to take up the cause of Justice for His Little Ones (both unborn and fatherless). He pre-ordained me to be a spiritual mother to a generation of Burning Ones and to love, forerun, prepare the way, contend, ascend, and to champion them into their destinies.

I understand now why I was born on Mother’s Day; why I get to celebrate that divine convergence frequently through my years.

MATTHEW 28:18-20Jesus commissions us all to GO into ALL NATIONS and PREACH THE GOSPEL, TEACH, TRAIN, BAPTIZE, and MAKE DISCIPLES; teaching them that the Kingdom of Heaven is AT HAND. It is a gift freely received when we receive Jesus and His finished work on the cross. It is a gift we are to freely give out like a sweet love offering to The Only One Who is worthy to receive all of who we are and all we have to give. He declares that just as the Father sent Him, He is sending us!

His promise is that all authority under Heaven and on earth has been given to Him; and He has given us that very same authority because of His Holy Spirit Who dwells within us. Therefore, EVERYTHING THAT HE DID, WE CAN DO. That’s His Command, Expectation, and Promise…

Matthew 10:7-8 (TPT)
“And as you go, preach this message: ‘Heaven’s Kingdom realm is accessible, close enough to touch.’
You must continually bring healing to lepers and to those who are sick, and make it your habit to break off the demonic presence from people, and raise the dead back to life. Freely you have received the power of the Kingdom, so freely release it to others.”

After five years, the door to the nations are finally open again to me personally and the Lord has been so good to open two nations this year. In three weeks I will return to Spain for the third time and will be joining my father and mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and a small team of pastors to preach the Gospel, evangelize, train, and equip the Spaniards to do the same; all to see Spain reawakened and set on fire for the Lord. At the end of the year, I will also be joining a team to bring the Fire and Glory of the Lord to one of the most closed nations to the Gospel in South Asia.

To say that I am excited is an understatement. To be honest, part of me over the past few years began to feel a bit downtrodden in regards to not being released to GO. Our hearts are so for the nations that we would drop everything in a moment to GO if He called us. In the past five years, Jeremiah was released to go to a number of nations and the fruit of those opportunities to partner with Him in His work in the nations is overwhelming. Though I was never able to physically set foot in those nations, Jesus was so faithful to grow me as I shepherd the hearts of those of my first ministries, my children. He also pushed me to partner and sow in prayer and in prophesying His Word into those nations; and because of that and the union with my Husband, I am able to partake in the same fruit that was bore through the labor of my Husband’s hands.

Jesus revealed to me through a Heavenly encounter while Jeremiah was ministering in a Southeast Asian nation in August of last year that He was opening the nations once again and He released keys to specific nations to take for the Glory of God; and that even this year I would once again set foot in the nations. That they would never be closed to us again. I held those promises close to my heart and prophesied them forth in the secret place; and here we are.

Recently I heard Him say, “It’s necessary that my Husband baptize me on my birthday to step into the next phase of my destiny of bringing His fire to the nations. Matthew 28 on 28.” That it was to be a fresh baptism of fire to be a Mother to many nations.

After baptizing me, Jeremiah was baptized in a renewed commitment to love Jesus and partner with Him in carrying the fire of God to all nations. He loves me so well to also be baptized, to join with me in what God is doing in and through me. He loves Jesus so well to do whatever it takes to ascend higher in the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.FC117164-E8BD-4400-854F-9FFE7EF48BA0

All of this with our boys right in it.

What greater legacy could we leave them, than to declare with our lives that we love Jesus with everything we are and would lay down our very lives to proclaim His name and to set nations ablaze for the Glory of God?! My sincerest prayer is that they would never forget the love offerings of that day and of our lives laid down for Jesus. That they would be further marked by the hand and fire of God to do greater things for the Kingdom of God than we ever could, and to take more nations into the Kingdom of Heaven that we could ever dream of.

We love You, Jesus. To the ends of the earth for LOVE.

My prayer through sharing all of this is that you would receive a fresh impartation of the baptism of fire of Holy Spirit and that you would begin to see the nations with a renewed vision, through His eyes of love, compassion, and that He would sear nations on your heart.

Being called to GO isn’t just for our family; it is for every soul. It is not His Great Suggestion, but His Great Command; His Great Commission. He desires every person to co-labor with Him and co-mission with Him to set the nations ablaze and to bring Him the reward of His suffering!

Let’s step up, step out, unafraid and unashamed; and not let another soul perish while we can do something about it! We have the very Spirit of God abiding within us and therefore, all authority over every power of hell is within us; all power over every principality is contained within this earthen vessel. May we surrender everything to laying down our very lives for this one thing: that Jesus may be glorified among the nations.

LORD, EKBALLO!!!

Matthew 10:7-8
(AMP)
“Jesus came up and said to them, ‘All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.'”

(TPT)
“Then Jesus came close to them and said, ‘All the authority of the universe has been given to Me.
Now go in my authority and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And teach them to faithfully follow all that I have commanded you. And never forget that I am with you every day, even to the completion of this age.'”

Raising Up Martyrs

For the past few days I have been pondering and dwelling on a thing with the Lord. I find myself going back to this past Sunday when I was teaching the youth at our church. For months now, the Lord has been leading me to teach about the Harvest. I taught out of John 4 for a few months through the end of last year and into the new year; followed by teaching out of the end of Matthew 9:27-38 and on into Matthew 10.

I fully expected to teach from Matthew 10:7-8, And as you go, preach this message: ‘Heaven’s Kingdom realm is accessible (at hand), close enough to touch.’ You must continually bring healing to lepers and to those who are sick, and make it your habit to break off the demonic presence from people, and raise the dead back to life. Freely you have received the power of the Kingdom, so freely release it to others. However, He chose to lead it in a completely different direction and not even really talk about Matthew 10 in the way I thought. He led the conversation into teaching about martyrdom to youth under the age of fourteen.

While this isn’t your typical idea of what a Sunday morning teaching and discipleship for youth would look like; He planted seeds of holy pursuit, zealous passion, and awakened compassion. I shared the stories of modern-day martyrs, Jim Elliot, along with his four friends while attempting to reach the Huaorani tribe in Ecuador; and this past year, John Chau, who gave up his life to reach the highly isolated tribe on North Sentinel Island.

All-consuming love for Jesus and to bring Him the reward of His suffering has marked those who have given up everything, including their very lives, to go to the ends of the earth for love. God is awakening His compassion unto action in this generation. This very thing is what so moved Jesus’ heart for the lost in His day.

Matthew 9:35-38 (TPT)
“Jesus walked throughout the region with the joyful message of God’s Kingdom realm. He taught in their meeting houses, and wherever He went He demonstrated God’s power by healing every kind of disease and illness. When He saw the vast crowds of people, Jesus’ heart was deeply moved with compassion, because they seemed weary and helpless, like wandering sheep without a shepherd. He turned to His disciples and said, ‘THE HARVEST IS HUGE AND RIPE! But there are not enough harvesters to bring it all in. AS YOU GO, PLEAD with the Owner of the Harvest to THRUST out many more reapers to harvest His grain!'”

When Jesus saw the crowds of people, compassion overtook Him and He was gripped by it because when He looked upon them, He saw a lost, hurting, broken, abandoned, addicted, wandering, worn, helpless, harassed, distressed, shepherd-less, scattered people, condemned to an eternity of separation and torment in hell. The literal translation of their state is as if they had been flayed, skinned alive, and mangled. He saw their great need of a Deliverer and Savior.

I believe that perhaps He not only saw the crowds that were before Him, but also caught a glimpse or vision of the vast multitudes that would come who resembled the same state. Perhaps upon seeing this, He thought back on God’s desire to co-labor with His creation to carry out His will in the earth. For it is when seeing this reality that He turned to His disciples and presented the problem.
The harvest is huge and ripe, where are they who would partner with Me in gathering it in?
No sooner did He present the problem did He provide the solution. As you go, plead with the Owner of the Harvest to thrust out many more reapers to harvest His grain!” He then commissioned His disciples to GO, and as they went, to PLEAD that He would THRUST out more laborers.

In other words, “I am sending (EKBALLO-ing) you to be the answer; and I command you to plead (BEG) Me to hurl (EKBALLO) forth more laborers into the Harvest as you go!”

This is His divine commissioning — He expects and commands us to go!

Upon this command we see going into Matthew 10, that He imparted to them authority and power to do as He had done. We are then brought back to Matthew 10:7-8 as stated above. The disciples had been marked by a zeal that had consumed them. When you have become so marked and consumed by this holy passion and fire, you become unstoppable; for the Unstoppable One dwells within you. This very thing is what led the apostles to say to the leaders in their day who told them to stop sharing about Jesus, “We cannot help but to speak what we have seen and known to be true!” (Acts 4:18-20

Thinking on this, I asked Holy Spirit why He directed the teaching to martyrdom and what it means for the Body of Christ. He replied,

“I did it because it is time to level up! It is time to stop spoon-feeding this generation of believers with a comfortable gospel!

IT IS TIME TO GO ALL IN! YOU ARE EITHER ALL IN OR NOT IN AT ALL!

There is no age-requirement to My command and call! There is only one requirement: a simple person being simply obedient! If you train up a child in the way they should go, when they are older, they will not depart from it! This generation and the ones to come possess a passion and tenacity that I placed within them to scale the heights, undaunted, fearless, and unrelenting.

Are you willing to lay down your life for My Kingdom to be advanced and established in the earth? Are you willing to lay down your life for souls?Do not neglect to train and equip them in the FULL Gospel of Truth; for some of them will indeed lay down their very lives for My name’s sake and the sake of souls, some even at a young age. They MUST be properly trained and prepared. This can only be done by example. I prepared and equipped My disciples by setting the example. I laid down My very life for the sake of the world.

Indeed, some of you will. But do not continue until you count the cost. I have come to set you on fire that others will come and watch you burn. Like a wildfire, it will be caught and spread across boundary lines, state lines, water lines, and dividing lines.  You must warn them to step up and step out; for I am coming! Sooner than they think! But not until every tribe, every tongue, and every nation has been given the opportunity to come to Me! This is only done through your obedience and the faithful obedience of My Bride.”

I dwelled deeply on this word last night and He reminded me of Acts 1:8, the last thing Jesus said to His apostles before He ascended into Heaven.

Acts 1:8 (TPT)
“But I promise you this—the Holy Spirit will come upon you and you will be filled with POWER. And you will be My MESSENGERS (witnesses) to Jerusalem, throughout Judea, the distant provinces—even to the remotest places on earth!”

The word for “power” is “dunamis“, which is where we get the word, “dynamite“. The word for “messengers” or “witnesses” is “martus“, which is the word, “martyr“. It is as if He was saying, “Holy Spirit is coming and will baptize you and fill you with an explosive power that will catapult you to be martyrs for My Kingdom to the ends of the earth!”

I am reminded of the week after I returned from The Send. I had received such a fresh baptism of fire and a fresh commission to Go! Two days into the week, I overheard my three-year old son singing, “I will preach the Gospel, die and be forgotten, as long as You get the glory!” On another occasion I heard him singing, “I will love You with my ‘Yes’ and with my obedience, Jesus!”, and “It’s my joy to lose my life and find it in Jesus Christ.”

Azariah in tears, being overwhelmed by Holy Spirit in prayer.

I wept then as I do now; and not for the reason that many would think. I am filled with abounding joy and am proud of my son that even though he is young, his heart is stirring to yearn for Jesus and to go to any length to love Him and partner with Him in His grand plan of salvation and setting the earth on fire. That he desires to carry out his own destiny and purpose created for him from before the foundations of the earth were laid.

This is what we are to do. We are to first become martyrs. Then we are to raise up and train others to become martyrs. We are all called to be martyrs for Jesus. Some of us will laid down our very lives for this cause for He is worthy; however, all of us are called to be faithful witnesses to what we have seen and known to be true. Jesus is the One Who is Faithful and True.

The Spirit of Prophecy is the testimony of Jesus. When we testify, we prophesy!

My prayer is this:
God, awaken us all to Your call! Awaken us to our purpose in the earth: to proclaim, train, and send. Father, baptize us in a holy compassion for the lost that would so grip us as it did You; and that we would stop at nothing to go to the ends of the earth for love! May we lay down our very lives for the lost to know You. Come what may, we will go with You! Here we are God! Send us! The wisdom of God is foolish in the eyes of the world; but still we go with You! May we partner with You and be fire starters that set nations ablaze for Your glory; and may we train up martyrs for Your Kingdom! May we never relent in this great ascent!

“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.”

Prayer and Fasting

Simple Discipleship

This is the fourth message in the series: Simple Discipleship.

We have already discussed, Being a Leader/Disciple, Intimacy/Love of God, Worship and Sacrifice.

Here is what we will be studying for next week:

Holy Spirit/Power of God

Scriptures for Study: 1 Sam 10:1-13, Joel 2:28-32, John 16:5-15, Acts 1:4-14, 2:1-11, 1 Cor 2:9-16.

Here are my Notes: Simple Discipleship Week 4

Here is the Audio Sermon: Prayer and Fasting

fasting and prayer

As we begin to look at prayer and fasting, we must first ask two important questions:

What is Prayer?

What is Fasting?

In studying this topic, my definition of prayer would be inviting God into our lives and situations by bringing things to Him.

We are encouraged to pray without ceasing.  We are not supposed to go around with our eyes closed and heads bowed all the time, but wherever we go and whatever we are doing, we are to be in constant communication with God inviting Him into our situations and surroundings and making Him a part of our everyday activities.

In coming to understand more about it, my definition of fasting is giving up legitimate pleasures as a sacrifice to gain breakthrough and a deepening relationship with the Lord.

God has given us necessary things, and it is the blessing of the Lord to us for them to be good.  However, in talking about sacrifice, we saw that we were to give up something important to us to gain a deeper relationship with God.  Fasting is a sacrifice of something that we  enjoy (Food, Entertainment, Sleep…) so that we get breakthrough and walk into a deeper communion with the Lord.

Fasting always works together with prayer.  Everywhere that fasting is mentioned it is in combination with prayer.  Fasting without prayer is just dieting.  The point of fasting is to give up a legitimate pleasure and use the extra time that we have to spend praying.

fasting

In Daniel 10, in is clearly evident that as Daniel was praying and fasting, he was empowering God’s spiritual forces to bring about change.  Something happens as we fast in conjunction with prayer that empowers heavenly forces to win spiritual battles.  As a result of this, Daniel was strengthened, encouraged, and given answers that he was seeking.  You have the ability to empower heavenly forces to win spiritual victories through fasting and prayer!!!

In Isaiah 58, it is even more evident that fasting with the wrong motives and wrong heart is no good and not even accepted by God.  As we fast, God brings revelation to us and we then have the choice whether to repent and be obedient or to ignore the revelation.  When we ignore what God is saying, our fasting and praying is not powerful or effective but our hearts become increasingly hardened to the voice of God.  Fasting and prayer is powerful when we repent and walk in obedience to the revelation of the Lord.

Look at a few of the benefits of the right type of fasting and praying from v. 12.  God is able to build where there was once destruction.  The enemy is constantly trying to bring destruction in our lives, but through fasting and prayer, God is able to build something that lasts on top of this destruction.  God strengthens our foundations, revitalizes our spiritual heritage for us to pass on in greater measures to our children, fortifies our defenses and clarifies our paths.  This is the kind of fasting and prayer that I want to be a part of!!!

prayer

In Matthew 6, we come to find the importance of not being religious.  In regards to both prayer and fasting, Jesus mentions the secret place.  The thoughts and intentions of our heart is what God judges so we should never do these things out of obligation or for other people to be proud of us.  We should have a genuine desire to grow closer to the Lord and out of that heart in the secret place, God is able to give spiritual treasures.  I would rather be rewarded by God rather than men any day!!!

It is also important to realize that the prayer and fasting that we do right now affects eternity.  When we are in heaven, there will be no need to pray or fast because we will be partying with Jesus face to face.  Right now, we have the unique ability to affect eternity with our pure prayer and holy fasting!!!

In Habakkuk 2, we find out that it does not matter how you pray, but that you are actually communicating with God.  The prophet says clearly that he was waiting to be corrected.  Habakkuk’s prayers would raw and filled with emotion.  He did not come with proper words and civilized emotions.  He came as he was and expressed himself honestly and was willing to repent and be corrected.

We also find the importance of prophetic revelation or vision.  Revelation from God gives us tiny glimpses into our God-sized destiny and this compels us to align ourselves with Him and move more into it.  As we write these things down, it is an encouragement to us when it takes longer to get here than we want (which is 99.99% of the time), an encouragement to others when it does finally come about, and a testimony to the glory and faithfulness of God.

The most important lesson from Mark 9 and Matthew 17 is that in the middle of our hopeless situations that we do not feel as if we can pray or have the faith to pray for complete deliverance and healing, we pray for the grace to overcome our doubt and for God to strengthen our faith.

I encourage you to pray and ask Holy Spirit to bring revelation as you meditate on these questions:

What am I praying for right now?

What are the things I have given up praying for?

Is my secret place worthy of being rewarded?

What has God revealed and called me to that I am not being obedient or repentant to?

What legitimate pleasure am I willing to give up that I might receive a spiritual breakthrough in myself and the lives of others and be launched into a deeper communion with the Lord?

fat and pray

I pray even now that God would give us all hungry hearts to know Him in deeper and mightier ways than ever before.  Help us all to repent of the things which you reveal in our hearts and surrender to walk in full obedience to what He is calling us to.  May our secret places be worthy of reward, and may God bring forth mighty spiritual rewards because of our faithfulness and perseverance in the secret place.

I would like to encourage you to pray and give something up in fasting so that you are able to step into a deeper walk with the Lord and that greater spiritual breakthrough would come in your life!!!

men-raise-hands-to-worship-God

As we begin learning about Worship and Sacrifice, we must first ask ourselves,

What is Worship?

What is Sacrifice?

If we do not have a proper understanding of these things, then as we discuss them, we will never come to a true understanding.  My prayer is that as we investigate the scriptures, that we will understand even more the meaning of these and how we can apply them to our lives.

Worship – Honoring and lifting high another as higher than yourself out of a heart of love in response to God’s word, act, or nature.

Sacrifice – Giving up completely something that is greatly important to you for the benefit of another because you love them.

Here, I am talking specifically of the worshiping God, but we worship and lift high so many things that are undeserving.  Food, sleep, money, fashion, entertainment, sports, people, can all be worshiped in spite of not being worth it.  In this one statement, you may be feeling judged and your toes may feel stepped on, but this is the reality of the matter in my life as well as the lives of so many others.

We have a struggle in the morning when our alarms go off whether we will rise and spend time with the Lord worshiping Him or worship the god of sleep that is so seductive especially when it comes time to make the decision.  I could go on and on about each one of these, but every time we choose these things over obedience to God and love for Him, we are worshiping them and lifting them high as the important things in our lives.

Worship

In 2 Chronicles 21, we come to learn that we worship God when we accept His word and are obedient without doubting or questioning what He says.  Jehosophat had no direct command of God to put His worshipers on the front lines.  They did it out of an act of obedience and thus worshiped God by being obedient and trusting in the word of God.

In Genesis 22, Abraham is called to sacrifice his son that God had just revealed was the son of promise.  Abraham trusted God in such a way that as they went to the mountain in Vs. 5 Abraham says we go to worship.  Abraham’s heart of sacrifice is a true act of worship to God.  He was willing to give whatever God asked in obedience out of his great love for Him.

In John 4,

What Jesus mean to worship God in Spirit and truth?

  • God wants a constant communion with you in the day to day.  He does not want you to worship Him in a church or at your house only, but in the Spirit everywhere you go in every situation that you are in.
  • God wants you to be honest with Him.  You cannot fool God.  He sees the thoughts and intentions of your heart.  If you are giving Him something small and seemingly mediocre out of a good heart, it is greater worship than giving the very most you have out of a wrong heart. (1 Cor 13:3)

In Malachi 1, God desires our very best.  If we bring God half-hearted worship out of duty, these things are not pure and holy and actually dishonor and disrespect God.  He would rather no one worship than to have duty-filled worship out of grudging hearts.  He wants pure and holy worship that is a true witness to who He is.  This only comes when we are giving God our best out of a willing and loving heart.

In 2 Samuel 24, David reveals that God is blessed by our sacrifice more than he is blessed by our excess.  We see this concept over and over throughout the Bible that when we give God something valuable to us, that is true worship.  Those giving because they have extra does not impress God.  Jesus states this in a different way when talking of the widow in Mark 12:41-44. God desires our pure and holy sacrifice so He can bless us with better than our very best!!!

men-raise-hands-to-worship-God

Finally, in Luke 7, a “sinner” probably a prostitute comes in to the middle of the pastors and elders of their day.  She humbles herself completely to the judgmental and critical thoughts and stares and worships Jesus.  This “sinner”  sacrificed more and gave more in worship than anyone else around.  Because of her sacrifice and true heart of worship, her sins are forgiven, and she is saved.  She was forgiven much and so loved much.  The fact that she loved much caused her to sacrifice her most valuable possession and her pride as an act of worship to Jesus.

Does you love cause you to sacrifice your pride and valuables in worship to the Lord?

Nothing I have spoken is out of judgment or condemnation, but Holy Spirit has even convicted me in studying these things.  Our love for God will always lead us to a true worship which is displayed in what we are willing to sacrifice for our True Love.

Ask Holy Spirit these questions and be obedient in what He is speaking:

Are you giving your very best to God?  This is true worship.

What is God calling you to sacrifice to love Him and worship Him in a deeper way?

worship1

May you be blessed with knowing more of the Love of God than ever before, and may you receive the fullness of the blessing that comes through true worship and sacrifice.

Intimacy/Love of God

Simple Discipleship

This is the second week in a series called Simple Discipleship:

1. Being a Leader/Disciple

The topic for next week will be Worship/Sacrifice and we will be discussing:

2 Chronicles 20:1-30, Genesis 22:1-19, John 4:20-24, Malachi 1:6-14, 2 Samuel 24:18-25, and Luke 7:36-50

intimacy-with-God

This week, we are learning about Intimacy/Love of God.

Here are my notes: Simple Discipleship Week 2

Here is the recording of the teaching, Feb 10, 2016: Intimacy/Love of God

images (1)

This week’s teaching is what I would consider as the most important one to come to understand in the whole series.  The love of God and the relationship that we have with Him will affect every other aspect of our lives.

What is Intimacy? to know deeply, completely and have a greater love for then when you did not know as much.

What is Love? A deep, selfless, pure closeness and knowing of a person no matter what their words, actions, or behavior.  This closeness is promised with words, but proven by action.

Our revelation of the Love that God has for us will color every other thing that we come into contact with.  How can we love others if we do not love God?  How can we even love God if we do not understand the enormity of His love for us?

vine

In John 15 Jesus speaks of an illustration of how close we should be in relationship with Him.  He is the vine and we are the branches.  We must be in such a relationship that we are a part of Him, and we are getting everything we need for us to live from Him .  Without this relationship with Him, we can do nothing.  I know that all of us want to be doing great things for the Lord.  However, if we are not constantly and consistently connected with Him, we are doing absolutely nothing no matter how great we may look.

If you don’t remember anything else remember this, everything we do flows from our relationship with Jesus!!!  You want to do great things? You must have a great relationship with Jesus.

fire-heart-love

1 Corinthians 13 gives us a picture of the perfect God kind of love.  Paul is very clear at the beginning that no matter what you may be doing, saying, or giving to the Lord if it is not done in love, it is worthless.

Paul is very intentional about describing the God kind of love because it is so different than our view of love.  This love is God’s love for us and the kind of love we should be seeking to have for him and for each other.  We have a long way to go until we are able to obtain a love that begins to look like this perfect God kind of love.

fire heart

Ephesians 3 speaks even more to how important this love is for us to have and know.  We are strengthened in our inner selves by this love.  In fact, this power, the Love of God and our revelation of this love, is the power with which God works out exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask for, hope for, or imagine.  Our faith opens the door for this love to come in and each new revelation of this love that we have unlocks a greater power to work in and through us in every area of our lives.

heart

It is evident in Deuteronomy 7:6-9 that God has chosen you as a special treasure and set you apart for holiness.  There was nothing that you have done or ever could do to deserve this, but God did it because He loves you.  God is full of mercy or he never would have chosen any of us sinful creatures.  He is faithful because He continues to pour out His mercy when over and over again we prove that we do not deserve it.

I challenge you to sit down in a quiet place by yourself with a pen and some paper.  Ask Holy Spirit to come and speak to you.  Ask Him a simple question “How much do You love me?”  Then, simple write or draw whatever He speaks to you.  The voice of God is always loving, encouraging, and full of life.  This is what He will speak to you.

After you have completed the above exercise, I would encourage you to pray and ask Holy Spirit:

Do I have a deepening relationship with you? Does my life sustaining force flow from my relationship with You?

Am i being obedient to You out of love or am I trying to prove I am worthy of Your love?

Am I glorifying You through my love for You?

Finally, pray this with me:  “Father, bring a new revelation of the love that you have for me.  Show me how much you truly love me and help me to do better at showing that love to the people around me.”

May the Lord bless you with new revelations of His love ever-increasing and ever-strengthening you with power for great and mighty works.

Being a Leader/Disciple

Servant leadership

In the last post, Simple Discipleship, I tried to bring you up to speed on where we are at the moment.  I also encouraged you to study several key verses and see what God was saying through them.

In the post, I have included the main points of my notes and the link for the live teaching I did at Living Water Church.  I would like to invite you to comment with your observations and what God was saying to you while studying this teaching.

Before we get started with the discussion, here is the topic for next week:

Intimacy/Love of God

Scriptures for Study: John 15:1-17, 1 Cor 13:1-13, Eph 3:16-21, Deut 7:6-9

This is the first discussion in the Simple Discipleship Series.

Here is the Link: Being a Leader/Disciple

Here are my Notes: Simple Discipleship Week 1

Since I have included my full notes, I will try to make this more of a coherent summary.

As we study what a disciple and leader are from scripture, we need to understand the definition of each.

disicpleship

What is a Disciple? .

Are you a Disciple?

What is a Leader?

Who are you leading?  What are you leading them to?

A leader is to be more of a father that walks with you through the day to day struggles of life than an instructor.  Anyone can tell you what you should be doing, but a father will take you hand and work through the hard times with you to make sure you come out the other side.

1 Corinthians 4:15-16 For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Therefore I urge you, imitate me.

1 Thessalonians 2:11-12 as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children, that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

It is the job of a father and leader to encourage, comfort, and challenge the people following them to walk more in line with God.

Every single one of us is created to be a good disciple and a good leader.  How are you doing?  You will be discipled by something and you will lead others into something. What are you being discipled by?  Where are you leading others?

From the scriptures we studied, we can see a few characteristics of good disciples and leaders.

We must be do everything out of love!!! Jesus even loved Judas who he knew would betray him.

We must have Humility!!!  Jesus took the lowest job and did it well even when no one else wanted to do it.

We must Serve others!!!  We do not get to choose who we serve or how we serve them.  We must humble ourselves and honor all those we are leading.

We must be the Example and Pioneer!!!  Do as I do.  Lead others by doing it first not just talking about it.  God blesses us when we act, not just when we know or say the right things.

A Good Leader is a Good Follower!!!  We must follow Jesus first and foremost and have a close personal relationship with Him.  We must look like Him, smell like Him, walk like Him, and talk like Him so that we can lead others in the right way. And so they never go astray.

We must give God the Glory!!!  Everything we do is through His power and authority so he gets the glory and honor that He rightfully deserves.  We may get some honor and blessing for being obedient, but God gets the ultimate glory and honor for making it happen.

We are Influencers of Heaven!!!  Our actions influence heaven when we are walking in line with Jesus.  Heaven has influenced us and transformed us into sons and daughters.  Because of this, we have the influence of heaven on this world.

We must be Selfless!!!  We deny ourselves legitimate (and illegitimate) pleasures of this world so that we can be truly free and filled with the Presence of God!!!

We must know True Value!!!  First, we have to know the true value that God has for us, and then we have to know the value He places on the souls of all mankind.

1 Timothy 4:8 godliness is profitable for all things

We must be Faithful and Steadfast!!!  The only time for us to test our allegiance is right now.  Will you stand for Jesus when no on else does?

We must Know God!!!  This is the key to being a disciple and leader. Seek to know God in a deeper way!!!

We must Be Strong!!!  When we know God, He makes us strong

We must be Adventurers!!  When we know God in a deep way, we have what we need to do great things, and He can trust us to be obedient in doing great things.

We must be Lead Others into Knowing God More!!!  Part of us knowing God is us sharing that knowledge and relationship with others.  Part of us growing in God us teaching others what we are learning.

We must Understand our Authority!!! God has given all authority to Jesus, and Jesus has given it to us.  Jesus’ authority is ours if we will only walk in it.

We must Go!!!  God calls His followers to action and doing.  What are you doing for Him right now?

We must be Disciple Makers!!! We are called to make disciples of nations.  This comes by us raising up others who can reproduce the discipleship we have instilled within them.

We must be Carriers of Christ!!!  Jesus goes with us, and His power, His Presence, and His authority works in us and through us.

We must be Lovers of Jesus!!!  We must love Him first and foremost in all things, and this love should eclipse all other loves

We must be Willing to Sacrifice!!!  We must lay down our junk and take up what God has for us.  We must lay down our very lives.

We must be Finishers!!! Being a disciple and being a leader are not easy things, but we do not start what we cannot finish.

We must be Spicy and Full of Flavor!!!  People recognized Jesus because of what He said and did and people should recognize us because we are just like Him.

What are we worth if we no longer look like Jesus???

What is a Disciple? A disciple is someone who leaves everything behind and follows Jesus out of a heart of love.

What is a Leader? A good leader is a disciple, who is leading people to do the same thing that He is daily doing.

Our position in the Kingdom is not made up of what we have, it is determined by what we are willing to give up out of love and obedience to our Father.

What does this study mean if we do not make it personal???  I want you to meditate on these question:

Who am I leading?

Who is leading me?

Who can I disciple?

Who do I want to be discipled by?

Is it worth it to you to be a disciple and leader?

Ask Holy Spirit to bring revelation to you how you can follow Him more closely.  Anything that you need to confess and leave behind, do it now and never look back!!!

Remember that we are all walking through this together.  May the Lord Bless you and Keep you!!!
