What’s Next? 41/40

Congratulations! You have made it through The 40.  I pray that you have been blessed, encouraged, and inspired to delve a little bit deeper than you have been before in your walk with Jesus.  I remind you that often the things we were pressing into during The 40 do not always take place in the middle of the fast.  Many times, they begin to evidence themselves afterwards.  So, what now?

Celebration!  After breaking The 40, celebrations are in order. You have committed to and completed something that many will never experience.  Now is a time of celebration and thanksgiving to the Lord.  Celebrate the end of The 40, but also with joy look to what the future will bring!

I encourage you to go back and review Propelled to The Next Level for the reason behind why we began The 40 in the first place.  I believe that as we have continually prepared our hearts and made them right in seeking The Lord over the last 40 days, each of us have been, are being, and will be propelled into new levels with Him.

So, what’s next?

What happens from here?

My fellow believers, let the words of Paul bless us from his encouragement to the church in Phillipi:

Philippians 3:12-16 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do,  forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.

You and I have not reached the end of our walk with The Lord.  We have not gone the highest, delved the deepest, or ran as far as we can run with Him.  It is time for us to press on!  Jesus has laid hold of you for His plan and purpose to come about through your life.  It is time to continue on with Him.  Keep moving forward! The high heights we have reached today will plateau and become tomorrow’s valleys compared to what God wants to do in and through our lives.

What is the goal?

What is the prize?

It is more of Jesus!  We cannot get more of Jesus by staying where we are at. We must move more into line with Him.  May our ears be open to hear more of what He is saying, and may we become increasingly obedient to all that He has for us!!!

What is maturity?

We must walk at the level we are at now, never returning to anything of the past.  As we walk in this new place, let’s look to the next level with Jesus.  There is always more!  He always has something greater for us.

Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

This is my final encouragement for us in The 40, God has so much more for all of us than we could ever imagine.  Their are always new levels, new heights, new mountains to be climbed, new countries to be taken for His name! I encourage you to ever seek Him to take you deeper and do more with your life.  May you say today, tomorrow and every day from here on out, “Here I am, send me!”

Jesus, thank you for your faithfulness to get me through The 40. I celebrate your goodness, peace, strength, and life through every single day.  I desire to walk in this new place you have called me to and to move even deeper with you. I desire to press on and keep moving forward! Help me to advance Your Kingdom in every area and keep moving forward!

Practical –

  • Keep moving Forward with Holy Spirit

Be blessed to walk in the fullness of everything God has called you to at this new level, and may you ever seek to be propelled into the next level with Him!

Deeply Devoted 18/40

You are invited to join us for The Propel Fast! Please review Propelled To The Next Level and other words for the reasons behind the fast as well as daily encouragement!

As we continue to press in toward the halfway point, we must choose to remember that Jesus is worth all that we have to give and so much more.  Whatever you have chosen to fast, it is a pleasing offering to Him.  We do it because we love Him and want to give Him even more worship in our very bodies.  May you be reminded of Jesus’ worth. He is worth giving up our very lives that He may be exalted and glorified above every idol in the land.

Today, I want to challenge you and “spur you on toward love and even greater works.”  Whatever level of devotion to The Lord you find yourself at this moment, Jesus deserves so much more.  Too many times, we may look at the people around us and gauge our level spiritually.  We are doing pretty well compared to Joe Shmoe over there.  We have been praying, fasting and seeking The Lord in a special way for almost 3 weeks now.  We must be doing pretty well.

Personally, this is one of the areas that I have to constantly war against, spiritual pride and judgment.  In order that we do not think too highly of ourselves, remember Jesus’ story of the tax collector and the Pharisee.  The Pharisee came boasting at all of his accomplishments and what he was doing for God, while the tax collector cried out for God’s mercy. Jesus says this about the tax collector:

Luke 18:13 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Let us never forget our place in The Kingdom.  All of us must come to the feet of The cross; then we are “raised up together to be seated in heavenly places with Him.”  He is worthy of more than I could ever give to Him.  Our bodies, efforts, hearts and lives are poor in comparison to what He is worth, however, I gladly give all that I have.

We must never compare ourselves to other people and gain some sort of feeling of spiritual superiority.  We are humble creatures in need of Jesus.  We should always have more that we desire to give.  For God’s pleasure, I was designed to worship.  May He forever receive even more worship from our lives.

In Luke 2, we find the story of a lady names Anna:

Luke 2:36-38 A prophetess named Anna was also in the temple court that day. She was from the Jewish tribe of Asher and the daughter of Phanuel.  Anna was an aged widow who had been married only seven years before her husband passed away. After he died she chose to worship God in the temple continually. For the past eighty-four years she had been serving God with night-and-day prayer and fasting.

After being married for only 7 years, her husband died. She did not live in regret, grief, or anger at God.  She gave deep devotion to The Lord and served night and day in the temple.  She was seeking The Lord out of a pure humble heart for more than 84 years.

What was her reward for all this? She got to see Jesus!!!

Lord, let that be my reward.  You are worth it to me!!!

You may be doing more than some, but there is always a deeper level of devotion to go to.  You can never make God do anything, but you must desire to see the deep secret places of God.  Imagine the depths of the Lord that few have been able to reach because they cannot go the distance or give up the junk that is in the way.  May this be the cry of your heart, “I will give up the junk in deep devotion to Jesus so that I may gain access to the deepest places with Him!”

Jesus, I want to see Your face.  I desire to hear Your voice.  I long for new revelations of Your love.  You are the source from which all things flow.  If I have to give up everything to see You, You are worth it! May this ever be the longing of my heart.

Practical –

  • Ask Holy Spirit to reveal and remove any spiritual pride
  • Ask for revelation of Jesus’ worth
  • Commit to a deeper level of devotion
  • Obey whatever Holy Spirit speaks

Be blessed with new revelations of Jesus’ worth and the desire and ability to advance to deeper levels of devotion with Him.  May you access the deepest place with Him that few ever find!

Come and Dwell

Daily Encouragement –

What do you take pride in? What do you consider your greatest accomplishment? What can you do to become great?

Here I am! I am the creator and commander of all the hosts of heaven and earth! I know the right way to go and have your purpose lined up. Come to Me first, and I will show you the best way! Love Me with everything you are and you will be truly great!

Your pride and your accomplishments are nothing compared to My power and great vastness. You may seem great, but all I am and have is far greater. I have storehouses waiting to be opened and bless those who dwell before Me. Will you come and dwell with Me?

Seek Me! Love Me! This is how you will be truly great! This is where I am waiting to provide all your needs! I love you My child!!!

Isaiah 23:9 “The Lord of hosts has purposed it, To bring to dishonor the pride of all glory, To bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth.”

V. 18 “Her gain and her pay will be set apart for the Lord; it will not be treasured nor laid up, for her gain will be for those who dwell before the Lord, to eat sufficiently, and for fine clothing.”

Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

Committed Consecration

The advent of wireless Internet is an amazing thing especially as we are traveling. It is especially fun that you are able to take part in some portion of all of our adventures. However, it also means we are at the mercy of the places we are. We have not been able to post as much because we lost the Internet at our abode. I guess it is in some ways a preparation for the lack in India,Cambodia, and anywhere else we have limited access.

This week, I was privileged to bring a message to our cell group. This is not a message that most people may accept, but the mature body of believers I spoke to grabbed ahold of the promise and the word and is running with it. I believe you will to!!! If you have known me for a time, you know that Moses is one of my favorite guys in the Bible. Even beyond that, one of my favorite passages of scripture is Exodus 20:18-21. Here, we see that after three days of consecration, the people of Israel see, hear, smell, and feel the presence of The Lord on Mount Sinai. It even reveals in Deuteronomy that they hear the very voice of God. Even though they had completely consecrated themselves to The Lord for three days, they saw and felt the Holiness of The Lord and were afraid that if they saw or spoke with God anymore that they would die. Moses, being no different than any of them (except maybe that he had murdered someone), knew the holiness of God and knew that nothing of this world was worth keeping in compare to being in the very presence of The Lord. He was not even afraid to die. He just wanted to be in the place that the presence of The Lord was the greatest.

If we think of Moses and how he was able to give up all the passing pleasures of this earth just to gain the prize of knowing God in an intimate way, we see how different he was than most of us. We are so commonly unwilling to give up sleep or food, most of which we get an over abundance of. If we are to know The Lord in the deepest way possible on this earth, we must give up the weights and snares that hold us back from knowing Him. In Hebrews 12:1, we agree that we should be rid of sin, but the weights may be good things that just hold us back or slow us down from knowing Him. Things get in the way, distractions, and we must remove them if we want to know Him. We can always look at others and say that we are more holy than other people because we do, or don’t do, more of any given thing than them. However, when we view our personal righteousnesses against the holiness of The Lord, Isaiah says they are like filthy rags (maybe used toilet paper in today’s language).

I would encourage you to spend some time with Holy Spirit and see if there is one or more things that you need to consecrate to him and not do, and do more of the getting to know Him that we are all so quick to be too busy to do. Several people in the group decided to cut out television and focus on The Lord. What will you do to get closer to The Lord? I don’t know about you, but I have no love of the things of this world, and I am trying to be willing to give up all this world has to offer for the knowledge of knowing Him. Holiness is a gift that brings us closer to Him, we just have to get all the other things out of the way so that we can be more like Him and be closer to Him!!!
