One Year Ago…

It has been one year since Katie and I returned from our amazing adventures, one year since Gibsons Go Global officially started. It seems like it was just yesterday, but at the same time it seems like a lifetime ago. No one could have prepared us for what God called us to do. It was definitely a learning process God was teaching us and training us along the way as He does with all of those who are walking in obedience.

In New York, we learned the importance of the one and the power of prayer. God sent us there for one person — my friend Zach and to pray for the city. Would God send us to the largest city in the US to minister to one person and pray??? Was anyone else in that city able to do what we did???

When we arrived in Norway, our perception of what would happen was slightly different. We focused heavily on the one, Kjetil, and this led us to be able to minister to a small home group of six. Here, we learned the importance of spiritual heritage, and that we cannot sit back and wait for the enemy to attack. We must press forward in our Godly heritage as warriors to take back the land of the enemy that rightfully belongs to the Son who bought it with His sacrifice.

The invitation to Scotland came out of nowhere, but God was ready to put us to work with Gary and Vanessa Irvine. Here, we learned that the light of God was shining all over the world and the importance of coming together in unity to accomplish the work of the Lord!!! We were able to see even more clearly, the global revival that God is positioning His people to carry out.

Praying at Stirling House of Prayer in Scotland

Already having several contacts in England, we quickly launched into many diverse ministries out of more than three different churches. Vicar Robert and Pastor Sam set us up to be able to minister in prison, on the streets, in churches, prophetic conferences, pastors meetings, pray for healings, and prayer walk the city. We also developed some key lifelong relationships and learned the value of creating family in foreign cultures.

Returning to Spain where we first started our courtship was amazing for a rest and reconnecting with each other and good friends like Pastor Alfredo, Danny, and Jose Maria. Even here, we learned how God was moving like a wind across the land bringing revival. We got the privilege of sharing words in several churches, groups, and youth in various settings.

Don Quixote in Madrid, Spain

An unexpected trip to Kosovo yielded some great time to rest and refresh and yet here, God was still teaching and molding us for things to come. We learned of the true power of forgiveness and restoration and the value of perseverance to see the fruit that God is bringing forth. We did less ministry here, but got the opportunity to encourage and pray for several missionaries and a local pastor Imir.

With friends in Kosovo

Our trip to India yielded the most visible fruit. Prakash hosted us and setup ministry and invited us to minister with other visiting teams. We returned to be with Pastor Daniel and teach a YWAM DTS as well as a gathering of pastors in his hometown. God even allowed us to travel to the far Northeast and meet Maremi and minister to the Miso people. God opened blind eyes, set people free, and healed and saved so many people.

It was difficult getting into Cambodia, but God had us here during the hottest season to speak to Both’s church and encourage the leaders at the YWAM base in Batambang. It was great returning here and being able to give back once again to the Khmer people and missionaries alike.

Australia was our last foreign place to visit and here God was continuing to teach us and train for what was to come. We got to minister to a deeply spiritual people and speak truth to many who had strange spiritual concepts. We were able to minister with Kevin and YWAM Byron Bay as well as encourage some new friends in Brisbane before our trip home.

Returning to the US, we did not stop ministering as we stopped in Hawaii to see old friends in YWAM and speak life to family near San Francisco. One year ago today, we finally returned home.

Friends in Kona, Hawaii

Family in California

Now, we are waiting. After so much teaching, training, and growing that God did in us, we are ready to spread the fire of revival even more. We have continued in every way that we can. Speaking to family, friends, churches, and even strangers about how awesome our God is. God has opened some doors, but we desire to be used so much more. Now, we are waiting, but definitely not idle. It is hard to be idle with an eight week old, but even now God is using him to open doors to minister.

We do not know what is next or what doors are opening to us as you may not either, and that is okay. I encourage you to be faithful to God and continue to use everything you have to serve Him. Give yourself completely to Him, grow in the waiting time, and He will do the work to propel you into all that He has for you!!!

Bound By Fear

As our time here in Norway draws near an end, I find myself reflecting upon all that has taken place over the last month.  The culture here is quite different from back home and way colder, yet I have found myself feeling at home in many ways.  We have over our stay attended the house church at Kjetil’s parents with him and we enjoy them and the other couple that is part of it.  It reminds me quite a bit of the group that we started over a year ago back home, Fire By Night.  It is nice being able to spend quality time with them enjoying a fine Norwegian meal (of which I first experienced lamb) and then tea and coffee time of true fellowship.  There is such freedom there as we continue into worship and the word.

The first night that we attended, Jeremiah and I were asked to lead so we took that as an invitation for Jeremiah to proudly introduce his homemade award-winning chili to them, most of which had never experienced the greatness of chili!  We met that night, Jan and Katrine, the other couple of the group.  I have grown very fond of Katrine, a Norwegian Brit with the coolest accent and personality that I have ever encountered!  She even invited me for coffee the next day and blessed me with a straightener after being without for 2 weeks after mine committed suicide in Harpenden, London…(God is faithful to provide!)  We shared that night what we had learned at Circuit Riders as well as a word that the Lord had given Jeremiah as we embarked to Norway.  After much discussion time, we were given prophetic words from the group and I was blessed to have received a prophetic word from the Lord for them as Norwegians for their country.

House Church pic attempt #3

The next week, Katrine led the word.  She had been moved to deep thought after the previous week about evangelism, what drives us in doing it or not doing it, and how to make practical steps to do it.  She works as a coach to help people for interviews, etc. so she made a very thought-provoking question sheet, we split into partners and went through the worksheet to discover the answers.  One of the biggest realizations that were brought forth through the discussion was that fear is the main hindrance that grips us.  We were asked what we thought the definition of fear was.  According to Miriam-Webster’s definition, fear is an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger, or False Expectations Appearing Real.  To me, fear is anything that binds, robs, and keeps you from fulfilling God’s purpose and plans for your life.  Fear’s very nature is to deceive.  The truth is fear is not from God.               2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”

Fear has become (at least in America) an alluring stronghold in the majority of people and the sad thing is that so many, like myself at one time, don’t realize the hold it may have on them.  It hides in the horror/thriller movies, ghost-hunting, zombie, tv shows and games, Halloween is celebrated mostly through preying on people’s fears and drawing them forth…all with the excuse that it’s make-believe, not real, so it’s okay to partake in it.  These all and more open the door for the enemy to bring fear into your life.  It is truly demonic, not of God.  Furthermore, it hides subtly in everyday life and I have discovered that it has the most diverse flavors.  Fear of man (insecurity), fear of punishment (little peace, joy, hope, faith), fear of the unknown, fear of failure, fear of the past, and sudden natural fears.  I know because I have been at the hand of all of these for the majority of my life.  Fear robbed me of so much that God had for me.  It was not until I was given the revelation that called out fear for the liar that it was that I was able to gain freedom from each of these and only after that was I free to walk in what God was calling me to fully.  It is a daily decision to not allow fear in my life, and becomes more apparent the more aware I am of it’s grips.  Had I allowed fear to do what it does best, I would not be here in Norway doing ministry out of the fear of the unknown (how God would provide, what the rest of the trip looks like), failure, fear of man.  I would not have even began a relationship with my now husband because of fear of man (literally), abandonment and past hurts.  I would still be a shy, insecure, timid woman bound in a life of sickness, depression and living unfulfilled.  (Truth.)

I encourage you to examine your life and ask the Lord to show you any area in your life where fear may have a stronghold and where you may be living unfulfilled.  Fear can’t just hinder evangelism, it can hinder everything that God has for you and how He wants to change the world through you.  The dogs of doom stand at the door of destiny.  I remind you of a quote by Amy Sollars, “The enemy’s greatest fear is that we will realize who God has made us to be and we will walk in it.”   Don’t let satan bind you up in fear, but bind him up in fear by embracing everything that God has made you to be and do!

The Importance of the One

As our time in Norway draws closer and closer to an end, God has been speaking to me more and more about the importance of the One.  When we set out on this faith journey a month and a half ago, I thought it would look remarkably different than it has.  The majority of our time so far has been encouraging and strengthening individuals in an intimate setting.  We have been so privileged to encourage and build up Kjetil, his roommate Simon, his parents, and another couple that is a part of a small house church here.  Besides this, just sharing with the people we meet at different gatherings and settings seems to be how God is using us.

I have been feeling a little discouraged on and off that we have not had opportunities to speak to any churches or ministries so far.  In discussing this with my wife, she unleashed some powerful revelation and wisdom upon me, that I knew, but needed to be reminded of at that moment.  When we are ministering, encouraging, and strengthening individuals, this is building the church.  Each person is a vital and integral part of the church and every effort we make to strengthen and encourage them is making a difference in the church and the Kingdom of God is being built up.

My wife’s wise words reminded me of some ponderings of the past.  One of the first things I think of is a quote that was said to the famous D.L. Moody by a very little known friend of his.  Henry Varley, during conversation in a park, said to D.L. Moody, “The world has yet to see what God will do with and for and through and in and by the man who is fully consecrated to Him.”  After dwelling on this word for a short time, Moody’s response was, “I will try my utmost to be that man.”  Moody went on to be one of the most influential preachers in the U.S. and U.K. of his time.  This one man was changed by one comment, and millions of people were saved because of it.

What would happen in our time, if our attitude was the same? What if two or ten or 1,000 people stood up and said that we will be fully consecrated and obedient to the Lord to the best of our abilities?  Looking on all the revivals, movements, and godly happenings of the past, they can all be traced back to one man’s decision to follow the Lord completely.  Any organization, company, or business has one man that they say founded this company.  This man of vision, perseverance, and hard work gathered people around him to make the dream come true.  Loren Cunnigham and YWAM, Reinhard Bonnke and African Crusades, Billy Graham and U.S. Crusades, Bill Johnson and Bethel, Mike Bickle and IHOP, Lou Engle and The Call, Heidi Baker and Iris Ministries, Sean Feucht and The Burn 24-7, Stephen Evans and the Central American Crusades, Jack Hayford and The Church on the Way… these are just some of the well known people of our time who decided to be completely consecrated and  obedient to the Lord.  Each of these people in their own way have made a difference.  This does not even say anything about the people of the past who stood up no matter what the price to them in order that Jesus’ name would be glorified in and through them.

My challenge to you is that you would think about this statement, “The world has yet to see what God will do with YOU, for YOU, through YOU, in YOU, and by YOU if YOU are fully consecrated to Him!”  The world needs what you, completely consecrated and obedient to God, have to offer.  Really think about this and what your decision will be.  If you do not choose to be this kind of man like Moody did, you are choosing to fade into the oblivion of cultural Christians and not become what God has created you to become, one who turns the world upside down (Acts 17:6).  You are created for greatness!!!  Whether you become great or not depends upon your decision whether to be completely consecrated and obedient!!!

Jeremiah, Man on Fire!!!  “With everything that I am and have, I will be that man!!!”

A Nation-shaking Generation on the Rising

The Lord has been reminding me lately of why I am here, of who I am, and of the simplicities that He taught me about a year ago today.  He brought to mind Jeremiah 1:4-9: The Lord gave me this message: “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.  Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” “O Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I can’t speak for You! I’m too young!”  The Lord replied, “Don’t say, ‘I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you.  And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you.  I, the Lord, have spoken!” Then the Lord reached out and touched my mouth and said, “Look, I have put My words in your mouth!”  It was with this word that God urged Jeremiah to look beyond himself and to look to the importance of the task that he was called to fulfill.  Even as God commissioned Jeremiah, He has also commissioned us for the same purpose.  We must live our life intentionally and with an agenda because we were designed with an agenda written on our hearts…and that is to be Nation-shakers!!!

Jesus was a Nation-shaker.  Jesus said to the disciples in Luke 12:49, “I have come to cast fire upon the earth; and how I wish it were already kindled.”  Jesus is the ultimate fire starter, but He yearns for revival fire to already be spread across the earth when He comes and the only way that will happen is if we become those fire starters.  Too often we get caught up in the limitations the enemy puts on us and we miss out on all that God is calling us to accomplish.  Just as Jeremiah was caught up in seeing his age as limitation, it’s easy to fall into the same lie.  However, William Pitt said it magnificently, “We’re too young to realize certain things are impossible. Which is why we do them anyway.”  Children don’t see the impossibilities that we cling to.  When a child has a goal in mind, they stop at nothing until they accomplish it.  This is the faith and determination we all should be walking in as children of God!

If not now, when?  If not us, who?  Esther faced this same choice.  Either she would stand up and not be silent anymore but answer the call with the heart response, “If I perish, I perish.”  Or she would remain silent, reformation would come from someone else, somewhere else and she would miss the call having lived her life for nothing.  Paul had it right when he said in Philippians 1:21, “For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better.”

The amazing thing is that God’s given each one of us Holy Ghost ideas of creativity!  What is your gifting(s)?  What specifically is your calling?  Have you asked God lately to be specific on what your place is in the Kingdom?  He has given each of us Kingdom gifts to bring forth the advancement of His Presence upon the earth!  To bring forth the revival He has been stirring in this generation.  It’s been spoken prophetically over this generation for years that this is the chosen generation.  Are you going to walk in the fullness of it or sit by and let it come from somewhere else, just as it had to when Moses led the Israelites to the Promised Land but it was Joshua that was elected to lead them into the Promised Land.  It’s time for the dreamers to awaken to the reality of Heaven invading earth! Be radical! He’s ready to revive and reform.  He’s given us GRACE (the divine infusion of God’s enablement to see to it that you fulfill your destiny and all the devils in hell cannot stop it from being a reality because you have embraced Jesus!)  Before this can occur, we must come before Him with a humble heart and joyful repentance.  It removes every obstacle that would hold us back from the fullness of what Jesus died to release in our lives.  Then get ready for the most fulfilling, joyful ride of your life into your destiny!

Blessings of Fire!

Run to the Battle!!!

The last week has been crazy and full of crazy revival fire being poured out upon us and upon Norway!!!  Circuit Riders in Grimerud, Norway was awesomely epic.  We met so many amazing people and told our story multiple times, at least 10 times, every single day.  It seems that our obedience is an encouragement all over the world.  We made some great contacts and we will see if God opens any doors with the people we met here.  I also got to see some old friends from my time in Hawaii.  It was truly a God filled week!!!

During worship, and the personal time I had with The Lord, I was meditating on the word He had given me for Norway. You can check out the previous word In the post titled “News from Norway”. While I was thinking about this, He gave me a phrase “Run to the Battle!!!”  The Christians in Norway, and everywhere else around the world for that matter, cannot sit back and let the enemy do whatever he wants. We are called to run to where the battle is and attack the enemy so that he is unable to take any more ground.  On top of that, we are supposed to push him back and cast him out of the places that are rightfully the Lords.

God blesses us when we run to the battle with miraculous victory! He will not let us fall or allow us to be overcome when we stand and fight for Him!!! Joshua 10:1-15 tells us of a time when Joshua led the people to run to a battle.  It says that they traveled all night to get to where their allies were being attacked before it was too late.  They arrived and The Lord put the enemy into confusion and then sent a hailstorm and killed more people with hail than they did with the sword.  Then, God made the sun stand still in the heavens so that they could defeat the entire army before they escaped.  God miraculously defeated a 5 army combined force because Joshua was willing to run to a battle that he probably did not really want to get involved with (See Joshua 9).

In our own lives, we must not sit back and watch as the enemy takes ground or destroys our allies. We cannot sit back and do nothing while the enemy gains power around us and takes away our strength.  The minute that we quit fighting or running to where the battle is, that is when we get overrun.  It reminds me of Lord of the Rings where they were fighting to hold the wall.  The enemy was ever attacking and changing tactics and coming from different sides. The heroes were protected inside the wall as long as they ran to where the enemy was attacking and fought them off.  When they were unable to do so, the wall fell!

Be strong and full of courage because The Lord fights our battles for us! He gives us the strength to run and the wisdom to know where to run and it is our duty to run to the battle and destroy the works of the enemy!!! When you fight with The Lord, even against impossible odds, He will bring about an awesome victory because of who He is!!!
