One Year Ago…

It has been one year since Katie and I returned from our amazing adventures, one year since Gibsons Go Global officially started. It seems like it was just yesterday, but at the same time it seems like a lifetime ago. No one could have prepared us for what God called us to do. It was definitely a learning process God was teaching us and training us along the way as He does with all of those who are walking in obedience.

In New York, we learned the importance of the one and the power of prayer. God sent us there for one person — my friend Zach and to pray for the city. Would God send us to the largest city in the US to minister to one person and pray??? Was anyone else in that city able to do what we did???

When we arrived in Norway, our perception of what would happen was slightly different. We focused heavily on the one, Kjetil, and this led us to be able to minister to a small home group of six. Here, we learned the importance of spiritual heritage, and that we cannot sit back and wait for the enemy to attack. We must press forward in our Godly heritage as warriors to take back the land of the enemy that rightfully belongs to the Son who bought it with His sacrifice.

House Church Fun in Norway

The invitation to Scotland came out of nowhere, but God was ready to put us to work with Gary and Vanessa Irvine. Here, we learned that the light of God was shining all over the world and the importance of coming together in unity to accomplish the work of the Lord!!! We were able to see even more clearly, the global revival that God is positioning His people to carry out.

Praying at Stirling House of Prayer in Scotland

Already having several contacts in England, we quickly launched into many diverse ministries out of more than three different churches. Vicar Robert and Pastor Sam set us up to be able to minister in prison, on the streets, in churches, prophetic conferences, pastors meetings, pray for healings, and prayer walk the city. We also developed some key lifelong relationships and learned the value of creating family in foreign cultures.

Cell Group in Newcastle, England

Returning to Spain where we first started our courtship was amazing for a rest and reconnecting with each other and good friends like Pastor Alfredo, Danny, and Jose Maria. Even here, we learned how God was moving like a wind across the land bringing revival. We got the privilege of sharing words in several churches, groups, and youth in various settings.

Don Quixote in Madrid, Spain

An unexpected trip to Kosovo yielded some great time to rest and refresh and yet here, God was still teaching and molding us for things to come. We learned of the true power of forgiveness and restoration and the value of perseverance to see the fruit that God is bringing forth. We did less ministry here, but got the opportunity to encourage and pray for several missionaries and a local pastor Imir.

With friends in Kosovo

Our trip to India yielded the most visible fruit. Prakash hosted us and setup ministry and invited us to minister with other visiting teams. We returned to be with Pastor Daniel and teach a YWAM DTS as well as a gathering of pastors in his hometown. God even allowed us to travel to the far Northeast and meet Maremi and minister to the Miso people. God opened blind eyes, set people free, and healed and saved so many people.

It was difficult getting into Cambodia, but God had us here during the hottest season to speak to Both’s church and encourage the leaders at the YWAM base in Batambang. It was great returning here and being able to give back once again to the Khmer people and missionaries alike.

With Pastor Timothy and his wife in Battambang, Cambodia

Australia was our last foreign place to visit and here God was continuing to teach us and train for what was to come. We got to minister to a deeply spiritual people and speak truth to many who had strange spiritual concepts. We were able to minister with Kevin and YWAM Byron Bay as well as encourage some new friends in Brisbane before our trip home.

Returning to the US, we did not stop ministering as we stopped in Hawaii to see old friends in YWAM and speak life to family near San Francisco. One year ago today, we finally returned home.

Friends in Kona, Hawaii

Family in California

Now, we are waiting. After so much teaching, training, and growing that God did in us, we are ready to spread the fire of revival even more. We have continued in every way that we can. Speaking to family, friends, churches, and even strangers about how awesome our God is. God has opened some doors, but we desire to be used so much more. Now, we are waiting, but definitely not idle. It is hard to be idle with an eight week old, but even now God is using him to open doors to minister.

We do not know what is next or what doors are opening to us as you may not either, and that is okay. I encourage you to be faithful to God and continue to use everything you have to serve Him. Give yourself completely to Him, grow in the waiting time, and He will do the work to propel you into all that He has for you!!!

Bold Faith Brings Blessings!!!

This past week was a whirlwind.   Jeremiah and I set off for England last Monday for his sister, Tiffany’s wedding that was on Saturday.   God had already laid out the schedule of what the week would look like prior to us going.  We knew that we would be traveling to England, and then on the following Tuesday, I would head home alone while Jeremiah would journey on to Spain to join his father in exploratory missions there and then come home at the start of August.  I must say that it is strange not having him by my side, being this is the first time we have been apart since we got married almost 1 year ago…or shall I say since our relationship began.  Seeing as we started our courtship the day he left for missions in England and I did not see him for almost 3 months, and afterward was able to be with him some portion of time every day for 10 months until we married.  Almost 2 years of being with my Husband every day if not all day.  I suppose some would say I’m a little spoiled.  However, I look at it as a blessing of the Lord.

Our time in England was full of joy, emotions, excitement, ministry and God appointments. We were able to share with and encourage many different people on the Harpenden YWAM base of the adventures God took us on this past year, as well as praying for a new friend, James.  Despite wedding preparations and other things that were taking place, God made it refreshing.  The wedding of Tiffany and Bryson, our new brother, was absolutely beautiful and so full of Holy Spirit, even from the rehearsals.

We were blessed to have our good friend, Carl, from Newcastle drive down and join us at the wedding and then take us up to Newcastle to see old friends.  On the way to Newcastle, we stopped by Gateway Christian Centre in Birmingham to see our 17 year old close friend, Stephen, who was missioning there.  Pastor Jon Colyer had come twice in the past to the church we attended back home and brought a revival atmosphere to the church.  It was great to encourage and pray for Stephen and get to see what God is doing in the church there!

That evening we attended St. Luke’s, the church we had partnered with last time in Newcastle. True to Pastor Robert’s nature, he asked us to come up impromptu to share about our travels since our last time there.  I had felt the Lord prompting me to pray for Robert’s ears and He spoke to me that Jesus did not not turn away anyone that came to Him, but healed them all; so with that I was to do an invitation for healing.  Jeremiah shared about our travels and then I shared about the healing that took place in India (found in our blogs, Believing Is Seeing!!! and Faith That Brings Healing.)  I shared God’s word with Robert and the people, prayed for his ears and gave the invitation.  About 10 people came forward for healing and we prayed for them.  Each one was receiving their healing and one man, Lenny, said that he felt a healing balm running through his body as I prayed for him for strength in his body as he got older.

In Acts 11:24, Barnabas is referred to as a “good man, full of the Holy Spirit and strong in faith.”  The Amplified Bible says he was “full of and controlled by the Holy Spirit”.  The Message says that he was “enthusiastic and confident in the Holy Spirit’s ways.  The community grew large and strong in the Master.”  How confident are you in Holy Spirit?  Are you allowing Holy Spirit to lead and guide you fully?  Had I not shared what I felt Him speaking and acted in bold faith, the people at St. Luke’s would not have received their healing that night.  Let this be an encouragement to you to always speak and act boldly what God is leading you to do, even if it seems crazy.  God blesses us for our obedience and He also blesses others through us!!!  May we always be known by Father as those who are full of Holy Spirit, bold in faith, and confident in His ways!!!

Circumnavigating the Sphere (Recap) – Video Update #11

The time has come to unveil the recap video of our entire 9 month-long faith journey with the Lord this first year of our marriage!  One call and one desire to be simply obedient sent us out to share the Love of God with the world.  From speaking in churches to prayer groups, to ministering to lepers, homeless and party-goers, to praying for numerous people and seeing legs grow out, and miraculous healings; God has done so many incredible things that we couldn’t possibly include them all in one video.

So, if you would like to know more details about our time spent in each country, check out our blogs found in the categories icon on the right column.  Pray about continuing to partner with us.  This information can also be found at the right side of this page.

May the Blessing of the Lord Be Upon You,

Exciting English Adventures – Video Update #5

Our time in England was awesome and filled with tons of ministry opportunities! God moved in powerful ways and is stirring up revival, giving us a part in pioneering the way for it!
Check out what England was all about for us!

Committed Consecration

The advent of wireless Internet is an amazing thing especially as we are traveling. It is especially fun that you are able to take part in some portion of all of our adventures. However, it also means we are at the mercy of the places we are. We have not been able to post as much because we lost the Internet at our abode. I guess it is in some ways a preparation for the lack in India,Cambodia, and anywhere else we have limited access.

This week, I was privileged to bring a message to our cell group. This is not a message that most people may accept, but the mature body of believers I spoke to grabbed ahold of the promise and the word and is running with it. I believe you will to!!! If you have known me for a time, you know that Moses is one of my favorite guys in the Bible. Even beyond that, one of my favorite passages of scripture is Exodus 20:18-21. Here, we see that after three days of consecration, the people of Israel see, hear, smell, and feel the presence of The Lord on Mount Sinai. It even reveals in Deuteronomy that they hear the very voice of God. Even though they had completely consecrated themselves to The Lord for three days, they saw and felt the Holiness of The Lord and were afraid that if they saw or spoke with God anymore that they would die. Moses, being no different than any of them (except maybe that he had murdered someone), knew the holiness of God and knew that nothing of this world was worth keeping in compare to being in the very presence of The Lord. He was not even afraid to die. He just wanted to be in the place that the presence of The Lord was the greatest.

If we think of Moses and how he was able to give up all the passing pleasures of this earth just to gain the prize of knowing God in an intimate way, we see how different he was than most of us. We are so commonly unwilling to give up sleep or food, most of which we get an over abundance of. If we are to know The Lord in the deepest way possible on this earth, we must give up the weights and snares that hold us back from knowing Him. In Hebrews 12:1, we agree that we should be rid of sin, but the weights may be good things that just hold us back or slow us down from knowing Him. Things get in the way, distractions, and we must remove them if we want to know Him. We can always look at others and say that we are more holy than other people because we do, or don’t do, more of any given thing than them. However, when we view our personal righteousnesses against the holiness of The Lord, Isaiah says they are like filthy rags (maybe used toilet paper in today’s language).

I would encourage you to spend some time with Holy Spirit and see if there is one or more things that you need to consecrate to him and not do, and do more of the getting to know Him that we are all so quick to be too busy to do. Several people in the group decided to cut out television and focus on The Lord. What will you do to get closer to The Lord? I don’t know about you, but I have no love of the things of this world, and I am trying to be willing to give up all this world has to offer for the knowledge of knowing Him. Holiness is a gift that brings us closer to Him, we just have to get all the other things out of the way so that we can be more like Him and be closer to Him!!!

Finding Fulfillment

We were given the privilege recently of partnering with a ministry here in Newcastle called Street Pastors (http://newcastle.streetpastors.org.uk/). Street Pastors is a ministry that pairs with the local police on Friday and Saturday nights from 10 pm to 4 am to attend to the homeless and people partaking in the nightlife here. Newcastle is known to be the 8th largest party city in the world. People from all over England and even the bordering nations travel here to enjoy the wide variety offered up for entertainment and fulfillment.

We met up the day after New Year’s with the team we would be venturing out with to pray and prepare for the night. We had been told that this night would be rather quiet because everyone would have gone out the night before to celebrate and party it up, spending all of their money. We spent the first part of the night walking around giving candy bars and blankets to the homeless people along the streets, of whom many are very acquainted with Street Pastors and among seeing the bright yellow vests and jackets, flocked to receive a gift.

At midnight, we encountered a woman with her 7 year old son who had traveled to Newcastle to visit the city. She didn’t research travel times to be able to get back home so they had missed the last of every form of transport home. After many attempts to contact people, we ended up taking them to the police station where they could stay warm and wait until morning to get home. The leaders of the team spent time with them and talked with them for a long time learning about them. As the night went on, we encountered a group of drunk young men who prevented us from watching after a young girl passing by dressed in as little clothing as possible who was oblivious to her surroundings. They asked about our beliefs, about Jesus and some in a mocking tone. We realized it was a distraction from the enemy that caused us to lose her when they began speaking derogatory words about myself and the woman leader.

I was able to assist a girl who was drunk and walking across the slick street in 6 inch heels who tripped and face planted on the ground. She was intoxicated enough to not feel any pain through laughter though I wouldn’t be surprised if she gave herself a concussion. I gave her a pair of flip flops so she could walk safer and she found it more necessary to eat that get medical help. The last 30 minutes were so eventful that there almost weren’t enough of us to attend to every situation. As a bar was closing, I saw two girls carrying their heavily drunk friend who could barely open her eyes, who was crying and in pain. She had no shoes on so I gave her a pair of flip flops and found out in seeing the massive lump on her ankle that she fell down a flight of stairs and clearly broke her ankle. After much yelling from her friends, who knew we were good and here to help, we got a cab to the hospital for her since she refused EMTs. As this occurred, another girl behind them punched a young man in the face so the rest of the group was trying to keep him from retaliating. She walked off and punched another man whose friend eventually ordered a taxi to take this angry guy home because he refused to not go after her. We had to call the police to pick her up because she was drunk and vulnerable and another man was trying to pick her up.

One thing I learned from this night is the power the enemy has over hungry souls searching for what only God can give and how degrading of levels he takes them to in false fulfillment. Luke 8:4-15 was brought to life before me in reference to the Parable of the Sower. The seeds that fell among the thorns are those who hear the Word but quickly it is choked out by the cares of this world, deceitfulness of riches and the pleasures of this life. It was a joy to share the love of Christ to those who are lost and need to know the depths of this love. James 1:27 says “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”

Are you living out this verse to the fullest? If not, what ways can you spread God’s love through serving? If so, is there a new way that you can live it out?

Stand Fast in Freedom

What a year 2013 was!!! In short it was (Fire by Night and new friends, the Proposal, long months of waiting, Encounter God’s Presence youth camp, confirmation of our calling, marriage, honeymoon in Mexico, beginning of Gibson’s Go Global, flying to NYC on Sept 11, Circuit Riders in Norway, YWAM and Fire Starters in Scotland, Christmas and New Year in Newcastle) not that short. I know for many of us, this was a busy year and we should be able to look back and see how we have changed. If there has been no change between this year and last year, it is seriously time to examine if we are walking in God’s will. I am not talking about a physical location, although in our case it obviously was. I am talking about how you have changed in your relationship with The Lord. I encourage you to review your year with Holy Spirit and see what you find out.

This morning, God has given me an encouragement that I want to pass on to you:
Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
I can see as I look back over my life, even in the last year, how much that God has brought me into greater and greater freedom. He has strengthened us and empowered us to walk in this new freedom. Even when we are tempted to fall back into old things, we have the strength to stand fast!!! We must stand in the freedom that Christ has bought with so great a price and not go back to having bent and broken backs under the weight and oppression of sin that the enemy deceives us into thinking is better somehow. Do not be entangled again, but walk in the glorious freedom that has been given to us!!!

What kind of freedom is this? Unrestrained selfish freedom? Of course not!!! We know that is not freedom but only bondage to ourselves. A few verses later, we see the freedom that is called for:
Galatians 5:13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
This is not a selfish fleshly freedom, but a freedom in Holy Spirit that encourages us to love others in greater and greater ways. We like to explain the freedom of The Lord as we can say, do, watch, listen to whatever we want because we are free in Christ. Through this verse, we see that our freedom is not to be one that satisfies our flesh, but we are spiritually free to love and serve others with our actions. It is such a tragedy in my mind when Christians talk down the standards of other Christians or try to get them to compromise their convictions. There was one instance I know of that everyone was watching a movie with some coarse language. They knew that there was a girl who did not watch or listen to anything with language as much as she could control. Knowing this, the girls apologized to her, but were unwilling to turn off the movie. This was neither loving or serving this girl or the standards Holy Spirit had set up for her. Was this godly freedom? I think not!!! This was the selfish freedom that leads into bondage but no one saw the deception of the enemy.

I am so glad for those who call us to higher standards with their freedom of loving and serving. One quick story, while in YWAM my leader Sage was constantly challenging me in a healthy way. The week before we went to Outreach in Cambodia, we had a team fast. Getting through that was okay, but then he tells me that he is going to do a Daniel fast for the first 40 days of the trip. My thought is “Good luck pal!!!” Then, thinking of all that we wanted God to accomplish and why we were really there, I decided that I would join him. He did not pressure me or even ask me to join him. I was just encouraged to walk with Him in freedom as we loved and served each other. You know I look back now and do not regret one moment of that fast. Yes, it was extremely hard, but I believe that God is worth it!!!

I encourage you as this New Year begins 2014, stand fast in the freedom God has given you and walk in it in such a way that the people around you are affected by the freedom, love, and service you have for them. I pray that those around you who are the closest and those who barely know you will be called to the deeper and greater things of The Lord because of the consecrated life of freedom you are walking in!!!
